Othercide

Othercide is an RPG-enhanced tactical game inspired by such brands as XCOM and Dark Souls. The production was developed by Lighbulb Crew studio and was published by Focus Home Interactive.

Plot

Othercide takes us on a journey to a fantastic world, which is under the pressure of evil forces coming from another dimension. During the gameplay we take control over heroines known as Daughters who stand against invaders no matter what price they pay.

Mechanics

The main pillar of Othercide is the story campaign. It consists of missions, during which the main role is played by turn-based battles with enemies. In the course of them you have to show your tactical sense and react appropriately, and even interrupt and overtake the opponents' moves, turning the "queue" of moves performed by particular participants of the clash to your advantage. Each of the Daughters represents a different profession, which translates into her abilities. For example, Soulslinger specializes in fighting at a distance, Shieldbearer acts as a kind of "tank", while Blademaster perfectly works in close combat.

The game implements permadeath mechanics, which means that after the death of the protagonists they cannot be resurrected. The loss in this case is so severe that as you progress, the Daughters gain experience points and advance to the next level, expanding their range of skills. Another way of developing the heroines is collecting the so-called "memories" of defeated opponents, which provide them with various stat bonuses. It is worth noting that the memories cannot be transferred between heroines in any other way than by killing their owner.

Between missions we go to the city which serves as our base and also as a shelter for those who managed to survive the invasion of evil forces. We can regenerate here and talk to the inhabitants.

Technical issues

The graphic design of Othercide may appeal to us. The attention is drawn, above all, by its original stylistics - the whole thing is kept in black and white colors with a few red accents.
