Resident Evil 3 Remake 2020 Deluxe Edition

Resident Evil 3 is a comprehensive remake of the cult survival horror game Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, released in 1999 on the PlayStation console (and successively made available to owners of other platforms in subsequent years). The Japanese company Capcom, which takes care of the brand, is behind the development and release of this production.

Story

The action of Resident Evil 3 begins on the eve of events taking place in Resident Evil 2, and what follows - a few months after the end of the first part of the series. The game's main character is Jill Valentine, a former officer of the elite S.T.A.R.S. unit. The protagonist finds herself in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, triggered in Raccoon City by the T-virus produced in the laboratories of the sinister Umbrella corporation. The virus has been released and has infected almost all the residents. Jill must be on her guard, because in addition to hordes of the living dead, she is being followed by a terrifying mutant called Nemesis, a new version of the so-called Bio Organic Weapon, represented in the second part of the series by the powerful Tyrant. Fortunately, Jill is not doomed to go it alone and can count on the help of mercenary Carlos Oliveira, who is the second playable character in the described title.

Mechanics

Similarly to the remake of the second part of the series, in Resident Evil 3 we observe the action from the third person perspective (TPP), from the camera located over the character's right shoulder. During the game we travel through the city overrun by zombies and complete the mission objectives, collecting valuable supplies and notes which are the source of information about the situation in the city, as well as eliminating hordes of enemies. Besides, there are environmental puzzles waiting for the solution.

The authors give us not only white weapons, but also firearms (pistols and shotguns among others). As the ammunition is a scarce commodity here, it's worth exercising restraint in the use of the latter - sometimes it's better to just run away than to get rid of the stock of bullets. This tactic works especially well in the case of confrontation with the Nemesis following us. Mutant repeating like a mantra the word "Staaaaaars", seems indestructible. Additionally, he seems to be more intelligent than his predecessor - he can not only appear out of nowhere (usually in the least expected moments), but also use weapons (and his favorite "toy" is a rocket launcher).

Game modes

The single-player campaign-focused Resident Evil 3 is accompanied by a multiplayer production called Resident Evil: Resistance. While four players take on the role of survivors trying to escape the Umbrella Corporation's lab, the fifth player, as the so-called Mastermind, is tasked with preventing them from doing so at all costs.

Technical issues

As a full-fledged remake, Resident Evil 3 can boast not only refreshed mechanics, but also a completely new graphic design. The authors used photogrammetry technology, thanks to which the visual sphere of this production presents a high level. The attention is drawn to both the highly detailed environment and the richly detailed models of characters and opponents. The soundtrack was also developed from scratch.
