NiOh 2 The Complete Edition

NiOh 2 is the second installment of the soulslike game series launched in 2017. The authors of the first part of the series, the Team Ninja studio, are responsible for creating this production; we are talking about a team whose portfolio includes such series as Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden.

A year after the premiere, Nioh 2: The Complete Edition was released on the market, enriched with three storyline DLCs. On PlayStation 5, the game is listed as NiOh 2 Remastered: The Complete Edition and offers additional support for 4K resolution or up to 120 FPS.

NiOh 2 takes us on a journey to an alternate version of Japan, known from the first game in the series, during the Sengoku period of the 15th and 16th centuries. Apart from the wars in which the Land of the Cherry Blossom is immersed, the yokai - demons and monsters taken straight from the local mythology - pose a threat to its inhabitants. The action of the game was set before the events told in the previous part of the series, and during the game we play as the hero (or heroine), who, as half human and half yokai, must face the invasion of beings from another world.

In NiOh 2 developers developed ideas from the earlier installment of the series, and also introduced some completely new solutions. The first of the latter is character creation preceding the actual game, which includes gender selection and a wide range of appearance modifications.

Watching the action from a third-person perspective (TPP), we fight our opponents; apart from other samurai or minor yokai, there are also powerful bosses on our way. The production is characterized by a high level of difficulty, which increases significantly when the demons drag us into the so-called Dark Realm - the place where they come from. Although the opponents are more powerful there, the game is worth it because we get much better rewards for defeating them.

We eliminate the opponents using mainly white weapons; the three combat stances known from the "one" return, that is high, medium and low, and during the clashes we have to carefully observe the movements of enemies, use quick dodges and make lightning fast counterattacks. An important novelty is the ability to transform into a demon, which makes the hero stronger and more resistant to damage.

As we progress we gain experience points and get promoted to the next level, developing combat skills of the protagonist; besides, his combat potential is increased by obtaining better equipment. In addition, defeated demons leave behind the so-called "Soul Cores". NiOh 2 allows you to play both alone and in a cooperative multiplayer mode for up to three people. Besides, help can be obtained from AI-controlled companions modeled after other players' characters.

NiOh 2 features high-quality three-dimensional graphics. In comparison with the original, the title stands out mainly due to more detailed models of characters and opponents, as well as more detailed environment.
