Little Nightmares II Deluxe Edition

Little Nightmares II is a sequel to the 2.5D horror platformer by the independent team Tarsier Studios, released in 2017 by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game was first released on PC and on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch consoles, and only later were versions released for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Storyline

In Little Nightmares II, the heroine of the "one" - Six - returns, but this time she is not a playable character. The first fiddle is played by a boy named Mono, who, together with the girl, has to face the terror of the new place, distorted by the transmission coming from the distant Signal Tower, which hides many dark secrets.

The protagonist embarks on an obstacle-ridden journey to the mysterious tower, hindered by the terrifying inhabitants of a world rotting from within, to discover the source of the evil spreading through television screens and save the Six from a terrifying fate. Mono is her only hope.

Gameplay

As in the first part, the gameplay in Little Nightmares II is logical and arcade in nature, i.e. it involves jumping between platforms, overcoming obstacles, avoiding traps, solving environmental puzzles that require logical thinking, and hiding from the sight of enemies or running away from them. The player still has to be alert at every turn.

The most important change from the first Little Nightmares is the presence of two protagonists who work together throughout the game, especially when overcoming traps and solving puzzles (in a way reminiscent of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons). There are also fresh gameplay mechanics, with an occasionally used simple combat system at the forefront. Also new are the locations and the dangers lurking in them, such as a sadistic school teacher or a bloodthirsty hunter from the woods.

The graphics in Little Nightmares II have been kept in the same style as in the first part. Dark atmosphere and grotesque aesthetics prevail. The quality of graphics has been raised a bit in relation to the predecessor, and the music and ambient sounds emphasize the atmosphere of terror and constant anxiety.

Multiplayer

Little Nightmares II is for single player only. Control over the second character is taken by the artificial intelligence, which reacts appropriately to the situation and behavior of the controlled by us character.

Next-gen

Owners of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game can upgrade for free to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S editions, which offer, among other things, better graphics and smoother animations.
