Teardown

Teardown is an arcade-logic game in which we play as a thief performing dangerous jumps. A characteristic feature of this production are impressive possibilities of destroying the environment, achieved, among others, through the use of voxel-based graphics (a solution known, among others, from Minecraft). Tuxedo Labs is responsible for the development and release of this title.

Story

The main character of the game Teardown works in a company whose debts grow every day. Problems with timely payments and the need for an additional source of income force him to cooperate with more and more suspicious people and perform more or less illegal orders. Protagonist with time becomes a skilled thief, who is not afraid to steal cars and blow up safes, as well as demolish entire buildings.

Gameplay

In Teardown we observe the action from first person perspective (FPP). The pillar of the gameplay is making jumps, each of which requires working out a plan of entering a building or a complex, and then reaching the valuable "fantasies". Of course, we also have to take care of the escape route - at the moment when we pick up the object which is the target of the jump, the alarm sounds, forcing us to quickly escape from the crime scene.

One of the basic mechanics that the player uses is the ability to influence the shape of the environment. We can interact with various objects (e.g. arrange chests in such a way as to be able to get to a higher place) and also destroy almost everything on the map. For the latter we use various tools unlocked as we progress - from a hammer, through vehicles, to explosives.

Teardown has an eye-pleasing graphic design based on voxels. The whole is kept in a relatively realistic style and enriched with attractive lighting (the game uses ray tracing). Also noteworthy is the physics engine, which takes care of the realistic behavior of liquids, fire, smoke and collapsing walls. The soundtrack is also very appealing - Tuxedo Labs' production uses Path Tracing technology to create a realistic sound simulation.

Multiplayer

In Teardown we can play only alone. Apart from the story campaign, we can check out sandbox mode (where we can play in different environments without looking at imposed targets) and creative module (which allows to create our own maps).

Mods

Although the version of Teardown debuting in Early Access did not support mods, the developer announced the implementation of this feature in the future. The plans include a map editor and integration with the Steam Workshop.
