Monster Hunter Rise

Monster Hunter: Rise is another installment of the well-known series of action RPG games, in which we deal with hunting powerful beasts. The title offers a single player mode, as well as the option to play in four-player co-op. Japanese company Capcom, which has been developing the series in question for years, is responsible for its development and release.

Storyline

The plot of Monster Hunter: Rise takes place in a village called Kamura and the surrounding area. The plot of the production will focus on strange, destructive events called Fury, which threaten the said village.

Mechanics

In Monster Hunter: Rise the action is observed from behind the protagonist's back. The fundamentals of the gameplay are similar to those in the previous installment of the series - wandering through an open world devoid of loading screens (we will find in it, among other things, the ruins of a temple) we hunt various beasts we encounter, using an assortment of weapons and additional items. As the game progresses, we acquire new equipment (often created from acquired components) and develop the character's skills.

The introduction of Furies to the gameplay adds a new type of clashes, in which, using hunting machines, we try to fend off successive waves of large enemies. For successful duels, the game rewards us with special weapon upgrades.

Rise introduces several new ideas and mechanics to a proven formula. We have to Kablobaks - worms that allow you to swing like a liana and get into seemingly inaccessible places and allow you to use completely new tactics while hunting. We'll also encounter previously unseen monsters, such as the shape-shifting Aknosom, the giant amphibian Tetranadon and the mighty Magnamalo.

Players can also enlist the help of a new kind of creatures - Kumps serve as mounts and enable them to perform special attacks.

Game modes

In Monster Hunter: Rise we can play both alone and with others. The production offers a story campaign and a four-player cooperative mode.

Technical issues

Monster Hunter: Rise has a nice three-dimensional graphic design. In this respect, the game does not set new standards for either the series or the genre, but it cannot be denied its own character. Given that it is available on a console with limited power - the Nintendo Switch - you have to appreciate how well it looks. Particularly noteworthy here are the original designs of the monsters we hunt during play.
