We Happy Few

It’s an action adventure game played from a first-person perspective, with a mixture of role-playing, roguelike elements and survival. The game’s setting takes place in the mid-1960s, following a different version of how World War 2 ended. 

Gamers take control over one of the three characters, while completing a specific task to escape the fictional city of Wellington Wells. There is Ollie Starkey, a strong bustling fighter experienced in crafting powerful explosives; Sally Boyle, experienced in sneaking and crafting chemical mixtures, and Arthur Hastings, a well-balanced character experienced in crafting weapons. 

The gameplay fulfills a sense of paranoia, where in-game decisions are crafted to signify grey areas and weight, which can affect and influence latter parts of the game. The design of its setting is about the 1960s British culture, with inspiration from dystopian societies, like Brave New World, Nineteen Eighty-Four and Brazil. 

It starts with a main story goal and quests each level to gain additional rewards.  Once the players complete objectives, they earn player-character rewards, which they can use to improve the character’s feature and provide them with new abilities. 

All throughout the game, the player will be collecting weapons, wealth, items, food and drink. Wealth can be used to exchange items from various vendors. The items like lockpicks and healing salves are used for medication. Food is used to sustain nourishment and thirst to improve the character’s feature. The player can gain access to safehouses for recovery and to travel between other safehouses.
