Game Description
MotoGP 22 is a PC motorcycle racing simulation from Milestone S.r.l., built around the licensed MotoGP championship and its Moto2 and Moto3 support classes. The current Steam storefront still uses the original MotoGP 22 name, with no verified rebrand, definitive edition, or replacement title attached to the PC listing.
Its appeal is not arcade speed alone. MotoGP 22 asks you to manage braking, lean angle, throttle application, tyre behavior, electronics, and race strategy while learning the character of each circuit.
Racecraft, physics, and rider control
The core loop is straightforward but demanding: choose a class, prepare for a race weekend, learn the circuit, qualify, and complete races where small mistakes can affect the entire lap. First-person and third-person camera views support different riding styles, from an immersive helmet perspective to a wider chase view that makes body movement and corner positioning easier to read.
Motorcycle control revolves around timing rather than simply holding the throttle open. You must brake in a straight line, release the brakes progressively, carry the correct speed into the apex, and apply power without unsettling the bike on corner exit. The game rewards smooth inputs because aggressive corrections can cost traction and compromise the next section.
MotoGP 22 also models important race-management details. The enhanced Tutorial introduces electronics, tyre consumption, brake temperature, and the differences between the three main categories. These systems give newcomers a practical route into the simulation instead of forcing them to learn every control through failed championship weekends.
The handling model includes a manually managed Ride Height Device, which affects the bike's suspension behavior under acceleration. Milestone also highlights improved suspension response over curbs and more detailed tyre deformation, making track surfaces and riding style more relevant to lap consistency.
NINE Season 2009 and the historical side
The most distinctive feature is NINE Season 2009, a structured historical mode built around the championship battles of Valentino Rossi, Dani Pedrosa, Casey Stoner, Jorge Lorenzo, and other riders from that era. It is not simply a selection of old bikes. The mode presents a sequence of race chapters with gameplay challenges designed around notable moments from the season.
Each chapter combines playable scenarios with documentary-style material narrated and directed by Mark Neale. That structure gives the historical content a clear purpose: you are not only racing a classic grid, but also recreating specific situations and testing whether you can reproduce the outcome on track.
More than 70 historic champions are also represented across the broader game content. This gives quick races, time-focused sessions, and custom events more variety beyond the main licensed season, although the historical roster remains part of a racing package rather than a separate story campaign.
Players who enjoy licensed championship progression can also compare MotoGP 22 with earlier Milestone circuit motorcycle simulations such as MotoGP 18. The shared emphasis is on official classes, track knowledge, setup work, and improving consistency rather than collecting unrelated road bikes.
Career, management, and customization
The main Career structure lets you create a rider, join an official team, or build your own path through the MotoGP ecosystem. Progress can involve the premier class as well as Moto2 and Moto3, so the experience has more shape than a collection of isolated Grand Prix events.
The returning Managerial Career adds a broader layer of decision-making. You can create a team or join an existing one, choose staff, and develop the motorcycle through upgrades to the engine, frame, aerodynamics, and electronics. A junior team can also be created in Moto2 or Moto3, with staff and rider choices contributing to longer-term goals.
This management layer is most useful for players who want the career to represent a team-building process, not just a rider championship. It does not turn MotoGP 22 into a spreadsheet-heavy management game, however. The central activity remains riding, and the managerial systems support the race weekend rather than replacing it.
Five graphic editors provide livery and rider customization. You can adjust the visual identity of bikes, suits, helmets, stickers, and other appearance elements, giving created riders and teams a more personal presentation within the licensed framework.
Modes and content model
MotoGP 22 is a paid base game rather than a free-to-play product. The Steam listing identifies two optional add-ons: VIP Multiplier Pack and Special Suits. These are separate extras, not a season pass or a large campaign expansion, so the core Career, historical mode, Academy, and race features are contained in the main package.
The base content covers the official MotoGP world represented by the game, including more than 120 riders, over 20 official circuits, multiple championship classes, and historic competitors. Exact availability can depend on the selected mode, but the important distinction is that MotoGP 22 is focused on licensed Grand Prix competition rather than an open-world motorcycle collection.
Standalone play includes race events, championships, time-focused competition, and practice-oriented sessions. There is no need to interpret the game as having a traditional cinematic campaign with a fixed completion time. Its long-term loop is lap improvement, career advancement, historical challenge mastery, bike development, and learning how to ride each class cleanly.
Multiplayer and PC features
The PC version supports online player-versus-player racing and two-player local split-screen. That split-screen option is especially useful because many serious motorcycle simulators prioritize online competition and omit couch play on PC.
Steam also lists Remote Play Together, Steam Cloud, achievements, trading cards, and Family Sharing. Cross-play requires a more careful distinction: the official feature description refers to cross-play between consoles of the same family, while no verified PC cross-play feature is advertised for MotoGP 22.
Controller support is central to the experience. A gamepad offers the analogue precision needed for steering, throttle, braking, gear changes, rider movement, and camera controls. Keyboard input is available on PC, but it is less natural for managing gradual throttle and brake pressure during technical corners.
The game is distributed through Steam and requires agreement to a third-party EULA. The current PC storefront information does not identify a separate launcher, named anti-cheat service, dedicated-server toolkit, mod-support system, cabinet mode, or multi-monitor dashboard feature.
Who MotoGP 22 suits
MotoGP 22 is a strong fit for players who want a focused, licensed motorcycle simulation with meaningful career progression and a substantial historical component. It is particularly well suited to riders who enjoy repeating a circuit until braking points, corner entries, and exits become reliable.
- Players who want official MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3 competition.
- Riders interested in bike development and team management.
- Fans of historic motorsport presented through playable challenges.
- PC players looking for online racing and local split-screen.
It is less suitable for anyone expecting an arcade motorcycle game with instant handling, open-world exploration, stunt events, or a large collection of unrelated road bikes. Players who prefer dirt surfaces and jumps may find a closer fit in technical motocross simulations such as MXGP PRO, but its ruts, landings, and airborne rider control are very different from MotoGP 22's asphalt precision.
The learning curve is part of the design. Riding aids and tutorial content make the opening hours more approachable, but the game still expects you to understand why a bike loses stability, where time is being lost, and how a setup change affects your riding.
MotoGP 22 FAQ
Is MotoGP 22 still the official PC title?
Yes. The current Steam listing continues to use MotoGP 22. No verified rename, rebrand, definitive edition, or replacement PC storefront name was found during the storefront check.
Does MotoGP 22 include a career mode?
Yes. Career play covers rider progression through the official MotoGP structure, while Managerial Career lets you create or join teams, hire staff, develop the bike, and operate junior teams in Moto2 and Moto3.
What is NINE Season 2009?
NINE Season 2009 is a historical mode built from 17 Grand Prix chapters. It combines playable challenges with documentary footage narrated and directed by Mark Neale, allowing players to revisit key moments involving riders such as Rossi, Pedrosa, Stoner, and Lorenzo.
Can two people play MotoGP 22 on one PC?
Yes. The PC version supports two-player split-screen, alongside online player-versus-player racing. Steam Remote Play Together is also listed as a platform feature.
Does MotoGP 22 support cross-play on PC?
The official feature information confirms cross-play between consoles of the same family. It does not verify cross-play between PC and consoles, so PC players should treat online competition as a separate platform experience.
Which languages are supported?
The PC listing supports English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Thai, and Traditional Chinese. Full audio is listed for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Simplified Chinese; Japanese, Thai, and Traditional Chinese are listed with interface and subtitle support.
Is MotoGP 22 a good choice for beginners?
