NBA 2k23 is the twenty-fourth game in the series of basketball sports games licensed by the American NBA league. The Visual Concepts team, supported by Take-Two Interactive, is again responsible for the production of the new installment.
Mechanics
NBA 2K23 follows the direction set by previous installments of the series. Thus, it is a sports game in which we play basketball matches. We can lead real teams or our own dream teams composed of both contemporary NBA stars and legendary league players like Michael Jordan (featured on the game cover) to victory.
The developers also made sure to improve the gameplay to make it even more realistic. The changes include completely new mechanics in one-on-one interactions, making it easier to stop attacking players. The developers also added a lot of new options for customizing basketball players.
Game modes
NBA 2K23 sees the return of familiar modes, both local and online. This includes MyTEAM, in which we can create even the most unrealistic dream team, and MyCAREER based on building a reputation in the basketball world.
The game also features again the passenger ship familiar from the previous installment, with pitches and valuable prizes to be won and sights to see. In addition, The City (The City), a huge online map full of interesting locations, returns on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. These, by the way, are even more here than in NBA 2K22.
Players can also try their hand at the Jordan Challenges to trace the path of the legendary Michael Jordan from college games to the title of NBA legend. All this with commentary from people who have followed the basketball player's career from his first steps in the league.
Technical issues
NBA 2K23 is, like the previous parts of the series and many other sports games, a title that relies on realistic 3D visuals. The game faithfully reproduces both the stadiums and the silhouettes of basketball players, with the ninth-generation console releases (i.e. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S) looking the best in terms of technical aspects.
