So what's it actually like? Dialogue. Lots of it. But not the kind where you pick "good" or "evil." Here, every conversation branches into gray areas. Save the many at the cost of the few? Go against orders because your gut says so? The game tracks it all. Honestly? Some choices had me staring at the screen for minutes.

You swap between Jara Rydek and Carter Diaz. Jara deals with diplomats and shady deals. Carter rewires panels and cracks encrypted logs. Two sides of the same ship. Fans of Star Trek: The Video Game will find a deeper narrative focus here - less pew-pew, more think-think.

Technical hiccups exist. Some dialogue lines cut out or arrive late. Not gonna lie - it breaks the flow sometimes. But the story is strong enough to pull you back.
