Game Description
South Park: Snow Day! PC is a third-person action roguelite built around four-player online co-op, wave-based combat, weapon upgrades, and South Park's crude fantasy humor. The current storefront identity remains SOUTH PARK: SNOW DAY! on Steam and GOG, with no verified rebrand or replacement PC edition. Question developed the game, while THQ Nordic published it for Windows.
A co-op South Park built around short combat runs
Snow Day abandons the turn-based RPG structure associated with South Park: The Stick of Truth and South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Instead, it places the New Kid in a fully three-dimensional South Park and sends the party through combat-focused stages affected by a massive blizzard.
The basic loop is direct: enter a level, complete objectives, defeat groups of enemies, collect resources, choose upgrades, and push toward the next encounter or boss. Combat uses a third-person camera with melee weapons, ranged weapons, special abilities, dodging, and defensive timing. The game is accessible enough for a casual group, but enemy pressure increases when players separate or fail to coordinate.
Each match supports the host plus up to three friends through online co-op. Matchmaking is available, and solo players can fill the other positions with ally bots. This makes the campaign playable alone, although the enemy waves, revive opportunities, and coordinated effects are clearly designed around a group.
Weapon cards and the changing rules of each run
Snow Day's main build system comes from upgrade cards and the game's deliberately unstable rule changes. Players begin with a weapon and abilities, then select improvements during a level. Cards can alter attack behavior, increase damage, add defensive effects, or create more specialized combat patterns.
The available arsenal combines close-range and ranged options. The standard selection includes weapons such as daggers, a sword and shield, an axe, and several ranged tools with different attack rhythms. Later content adds weapons and variations including the Snowball, Hammer, Ninja Star variation, and Sickle variation for the daggers.
Run modifiers called Bullshit Cards can change the conditions of an encounter in disruptive ways. These effects may help the team, empower enemies, summon additional threats, or produce a temporary advantage that forces players to adapt quickly. The result is less about selecting a permanent class and more about building a functional loadout from the options offered during each run.
The game also includes persistent progression through currencies and unlocks, along with cosmetic customization for the New Kid. That progression supports replaying stages with different weapon-card combinations, but Snow Day is better understood as a compact co-op action game with roguelite systems than as a deep build-crafting RPG. Players seeking a more extensive run-based structure and local multiplayer may find a stronger mechanical contrast in co-op action roguelites such as Sundered: Eldritch Edition.
Story, setting, and South Park fan service
Cartman, Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and the New Kid are pulled into another make-believe conflict after the town is buried under snow and school is canceled. Cartman frames the disaster as a fantasy war, turning familiar South Park locations and characters into arenas, vendors, quest givers, and combat participants.
The story is structured around the New Kid's progress through the snow-covered town rather than a large open-world campaign. The humor comes from character banter, fantasy role-play, absurd enemy factions, recognizable locations, cosmetics, and commentary that reacts to the group's performance. This makes the game most appealing to players who want South Park references delivered during active co-op play instead of a long, dialogue-heavy RPG.
Base game, Digital Deluxe, and DLC reality
The standard PC edition contains the main Snow Day experience, including its story progression, co-op campaign, weapons, abilities, card upgrades, cosmetics, and solo bot support. It is a paid game rather than a free-to-play service, and the core content is not built around a rotating seasonal battle pass.
The Digital Deluxe Edition includes the base game and the Season Pass. The Season Pass contains six DLC items covering a new game mode, the Snowball ranged weapon, the Hammer melee weapon, a dagger weapon variation, and cosmetic packs including CRED and Asspen-themed content.
Separate free DLC expands the game with additional cosmetic packs, weapon variations, and modes. To Danse with Ravenous Shadows adds an endless enemy onslaught where players upgrade weapons, earn cards, and attempt to survive increasingly demanding waves. Other free additions include To Danse with the Veiled Horde, the Bigger, Longer & Uncut Anniversary Pack, the 420 Pack, and Bear-serker cosmetics. The Underpants Gnome Cosmetics Pack originated as pre-order content and is now listed separately as paid DLC on the official game site.
Who should play South Park: Snow Day?
Snow Day fits players who want a short-session four-player brawler with recognizable characters, simple controls, cartoon violence, and enough card variation to make repeated runs feel different. It is especially suited to friends who enjoy experimenting with weapon effects while joking through a compact campaign.
It is a weaker match for players expecting the turn-based tactics, extensive equipment systems, open exploration, or narrative density of South Park's earlier RPGs. The combat foundation is straightforward, and the strongest moments generally come from playing with people who communicate rather than from highly complex character specialization.
Fans of crowd-clearing combat can also compare its enemy-wave structure with third-person hack-and-slash games such as One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 Gold Edition, although Snow Day is more compact and places greater emphasis on co-op modifiers and card-driven upgrades.
PC platform features and storefront differences
The PC version is available through Steam and GOG under the same official title. Steam provides achievements, Steam Cloud, trading cards, Family Sharing, controller support, single-player play, and online co-op. GOG lists the game as DRM-free, with no activation or online connection required for the offline game, while online multiplayer naturally still requires network access.
Controller support is explicitly listed on both major PC storefronts, making a gamepad the natural choice for players who want a console-style third-person action layout. Keyboard and mouse play is also available on PC, but the game does not advertise a specialized PC feature set such as mod support, cabinet mode, or multi-monitor presentation.
Localization covers English, French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, and Polish text, with full voice support listed for English, French, German, and Brazilian Portuguese. Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Polish are presented primarily as text localization options rather than full voice-over languages.
South Park: Snow Day! FAQ
Is South Park: Snow Day! a remake or rebranded game?
No verified rebrand has replaced it. Steam and GOG continue to list the PC product as SOUTH PARK: SNOW DAY!, while the official THQ Nordic site often shortens the presentation to South Park: Snow Day.
Does Snow Day support four-player co-op on PC?
Yes. One player can host a session with up to three friends through online co-op. Matchmaking is supported, and solo players can use ally bots to fill the party.
Does South Park: Snow Day! have split-screen or couch co-op?
The PC storefront listings advertise single-player and online co-op, not native split-screen or couch co-op. Players should plan around online multiplayer when choosing the Windows version.
Is the Season Pass required to play the main game?
No. The standard edition includes the main campaign, combat systems, weapons, cards, abilities, cosmetics, and solo bot support. The Season Pass is optional and adds six DLC items, while several other content packs and modes are available as free DLC.
Is Snow Day a roguelike or a roguelite?
It is best described as a co-op action roguelite. Individual runs use changing upgrade cards, weapon choices, and rule modifiers, while persistent unlocks and cosmetics provide progression between attempts.
What languages does the PC version support?
The PC release supports English, French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, and Polish text. Full audio is listed for English, French, German, and Brazilian Portuguese, with the remaining languages focused on interface and subtitle localization.
