Game Description
Fallout London is a PC open-world action RPG total conversion for Fallout 4, officially listed on GOG as Fallout: London. There is no verified rebrand to a different game name: the colonized title is the current storefront styling, while “Fallout London” remains the common search form. Team FOLON created the mod as a separate, non-commercial project that moves Fallout’s post-nuclear role-playing formula from the United States to a heavily reimagined London.
A new Fallout campaign in post-war London
Fallout: London is not a short quest add-on placed inside the Commonwealth. It provides a new protagonist, a separate world, new factions, original dialogue, new weapons, custom creatures, and a distinct progression path. The player character is known as the Wayfarer, and the campaign begins in a London shaped by class conflict, scarcity, competing political movements, and the long-term consequences of the Resource Wars.
The core loop remains familiar to Fallout players: explore hostile districts, search abandoned buildings, speak with residents, complete quests, collect equipment, improve the character, and decide which groups deserve support. Combat uses the underlying Fallout 4 framework, with first-person and third-person perspectives, real-time shooting, melee weapons, stealth, and V.A.T.S.-style tactical targeting.
This is a choice-driven RPG rather than a linear shooter. Dialogue checks, faction loyalties, exploration decisions, and quest outcomes can redirect the campaign and influence which ending becomes available. Players who enjoy the base game’s scavenging, crafting, and wandering structure will recognize the design language, while the setting gives familiar systems a very different identity. The underlying open-world Fallout 4 role-playing framework is the foundation, but London changes the tone, equipment, enemies, and narrative priorities.
Factions, companions, and British world-building
London’s politics are built around several original factions rather than returning American institutions. The Gentry rule from Westminster through an aristocratic hierarchy, while the Tommies serve as a militarized defense force whose relationship with their rulers is increasingly uneasy. The 5th Column seeks to destroy the existing order and rebuild Britain around its leader, Eve Varney.
Camelot operates as an underground republican movement inspired by both Arthurian legend and wartime commandos. The Isle of Dogs Syndicate controls a major criminal and scavenging operation, while the Vagabonds are driven by revenge against that syndicate. The secretive Angel faction adds a layer of conspiracy involving hidden surveillance, science, and political control.
These groups are more than background decoration. Their goals shape missions, alliances, character relationships, and possible conclusions. Fallout: London also includes seven companions, each offering a different personality and combat presence. The companion system is particularly useful for players who prefer RPGs where party members are part of the setting’s political and emotional texture rather than disposable followers.
The world itself is a condensed but broad recreation of London, covering central boroughs and outer areas rather than reproducing every street at literal scale. Familiar landmarks are filtered through Fallout’s alternate history, while the visual language draws on British architecture, public information campaigns, aristocratic institutions, underground stations, gang culture, and post-war improvisation.
Combat, survival pressure, and progression
Fallout: London changes the balance of the traditional Fallout arsenal. Firearms are more deliberately scarce in parts of the campaign, encouraging players to use melee combat, improvised weapons, and close-range tactics more often than they might in Fallout 4. That choice gives encounters a rougher, less heavily armed feel and makes ammunition management part of the early-game rhythm.
The mod also introduces new weapons, armor, clothing, craftable items, creatures, animations, and collectibles. Exploration feeds into character growth through scavenging, equipment upgrades, settlement activity, and the discovery of specialized gear. A custom Atta-boy interface replaces the standard Pip-Boy presentation and draws on the British Protect and Survive nuclear information campaign.
Players should not expect a conventional survival game with a separate hunger-and-thirst management loop as the primary structure. The emphasis is on exploration, combat, quest decisions, resource use, and the consequences of faction involvement. The setting can be tense and occasionally hostile, but the main progression remains that of a large single-player role-playing campaign.
Current content and the Rabbit & Pork update
The base mod is free, but it is not standalone software. You must own Fallout 4 with all of its official add-ons, or use the complete Fallout 4 package that includes them. Fallout: London then replaces or occupies the relevant Fallout 4 installation rather than behaving like a small optional plugin that can be toggled without preparation.
The current content package includes the main London campaign, its factions and companions, new settlements, new crafting content, and a substantial collection of side quests. GOG’s listing describes 200 quests, 15 boroughs, seven companions, multiple story paths, and seven unique settlements, although the exact experience depends on how much optional content a player explores.
Rabbit & Pork is the first official DLC update for Fallout: London. It adds 30 quests and minigames, nearly 30 new weapons and armor pieces, around 80 fully voiced NPCs, roughly 70 new or revised random encounters, a new animal companion, a player home, and additional early-game faction content. It also includes thousands of bug fixes, balance changes, quest corrections, and stability improvements, making the updated installation the sensible version for a new playthrough.
How Fallout: London works on PC
Fallout: London is officially a Windows-only PC project. It is single-player and does not advertise online multiplayer, split-screen, co-op, competitive modes, or an anti-cheat system. The official language listing is English audio and text, which matches the project’s heavily voiced presentation and British setting.
GOG currently distributes Fallout: London for free and offers a DRM-free installation. GOG Galaxy is optional because an offline installer is available. The GOG version is the less complicated route because it is designed to work with the compatible Fallout 4 installation without the same downgrade process required by the Steam edition.
Steam owners need the Game of the Year Edition and all official add-ons, then must use the compatible pre-Next Gen Fallout 4 build. The installation process uses a dedicated launcher and may alter the Fallout 4 installation and shared save location. Players who want to keep an untouched Fallout 4 setup should treat London as a separate installation rather than assuming both versions can safely share every file and save.
The newer Team FOLON launcher, built in collaboration with Overwolf, adds one-click installation, update handling, accessibility improvements, and support integration. This is a meaningful PC feature because Fallout: London is a total conversion with unusually large installation requirements and version dependencies, not a normal mod that can be dropped into any current Fallout 4 build.
Who should play Fallout: London?
Fallout: London is a strong fit for players who want a large single-player RPG with branching faction politics, voiced characters, extensive exploration, and a setting that feels culturally distinct from the official American Fallout games. It is also aimed at PC players comfortable with mod ecosystems, launchers, separate saves, and occasional compatibility decisions.
Players seeking a polished console release, conventional plug-and-play installation, multiplayer, or broad language localization should set expectations carefully. The project’s scope is substantial, but its total-conversion structure means the installation process and game-version compatibility matter more than they do for a standard storefront RPG.
Fans of choice-heavy post-apocalyptic role-playing can also compare its faction-driven structure with branching wasteland RPGs such as Fallout: New Vegas. London is not a remake of that game, but both emphasize competing powers, companion relationships, exploration, and consequences that extend beyond individual firefights.
Fallout: London FAQ
Is Fallout London a separate game or a Fallout 4 mod?
It is a large total conversion mod for Fallout 4. Team FOLON describes it as a DLC-sized project, but it requires Fallout 4 and all official add-ons to run. It uses Fallout 4 as its technical foundation while providing a new protagonist, world, campaign, factions, and content structure.
What is the current official name?
The current GOG storefront listing uses Fallout: London. “Fallout London” without the colon is a common search and catalog variant, not evidence of a separate rebranded edition. Team FOLON’s own site also uses the colonized form.
Is Fallout: London free?
Yes. The mod itself is distributed free of charge, but you must own Fallout 4 with all official add-ons. Rabbit & Pork is an official free content update rather than a conventional paid expansion sold separately from the base mod.
Does Fallout: London include multiplayer or co-op?
No. It is designed as a single-player experience. There is no confirmed campaign co-op, split-screen mode, or online multiplayer system.
Can Steam owners play Fallout: London?
Yes, but the Steam version requires Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition and the compatible pre-Next Gen build. Steam users need to follow the dedicated downgrade and launcher process instead of installing the mod into the latest standard Fallout 4 build.
Does Fallout: London support languages besides English?
The confirmed official localization is English audio and text. The project’s voiced factions, companions, and major characters are therefore presented in English rather than through a broad multi-language voice or subtitle package.
Is Fallout: London worth playing after Rabbit & Pork?
For a first playthrough, the updated version is the preferred choice. Rabbit & Pork adds new quests, voiced NPCs, equipment, encounters, a companion, a player home, faction introductions, and a large collection of fixes that improve the overall campaign structure and stability.
