EA Sports FC 25, also referred to by many players as FIFA 25, is a football game from EA Sports that continues the new FC series (the one that replaced EA’s old FIFA line). On PC and consoles, you’re basically here for the same core fantasy: pick a club or squad, play the matches, and chase those perfect passes and last-second finishes.
Release date: 27 September 2024. If you’re checking it out after launch, the real question is simple: does FC 25 give you enough reasons to stick around for another season? Like in older titles such as FIFA 22, it builds on established foundations.
What you do in EA Sports FC 25 (FIFA 25)
You play football matches in a mix of modes, either singleplayer or multiplayer. You can go local (including split-screen / shared screen play for two people) or jump online. Some sessions are chill, some turn into sweaty “one more game” nights. It depends on who you invite.
EA Sports FC 25 runs on the Frostbite engine, like the previous entry, so the overall presentation and feel follows the same tech foundation as before.
Rush: smaller teams, faster decisions
The big new highlight is Rush. It’s a 5v5 mode designed for tighter, smaller-scale matches. Less crowding, more touches, more moments where you’re forced to make a quick choice instead of waiting for the “perfect” opening.
Rush can be played across different parts of the game, including Football Ultimate Team, Clubs, quick matches, and even Career. The setup is built for a group: you can play with up to three friends, plus an AI-controlled goalkeeper. So yes, you can bring a squad, but you don’t need a full team to get rolling.
What Rush changes in practice
- More 1v1 situations and quick passing lanes.
- Shorter distance to goal, so mistakes get punished fast.
- Great for playing with friends when you don’t want a full-length match.
FC IQ: tactics that actually matter
The second major addition is FC IQ. This is described as a deep change to the tactical foundations across the whole game. For you, that means more strategic control over how the team behaves and a push toward more realistic team actions.
There’s also a refreshed AI model based on data from real matches. The idea is that players get new roles and those roles influence positioning and tactical behavior. In other words, you’re not just moving a single player around - you’re shaping how the whole team acts when you’re on and off the ball.
Career: you can play as a woman
Career mode returns, and it brings a notable first for EA’s football games: you can lead to victory as both a male footballer and a female footballer. You can also take control of clubs from five top women’s leagues. If you like the long-term loop of improving, grinding matches, and watching your story unfold, this is one of the key reasons to check FC 25.
Another new twist is dynamic starting points. Instead of always beginning from the same clean slate, you can jump into scenarios tied to major real-world moments, like mid-season transfers or managerial changes. It’s basically a shortcut into drama. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want.
Ultimate Team: build your squad from packs
Football Ultimate Team is here too. You open or buy packs to get footballers, then build your own team around what you pull. If you enjoy tinkering with lineups, chasing upgrades, and experimenting with combinations, this mode is still a huge chunk of the game’s identity.
Licenses and scale
EA Sports FC 25 includes official licenses. The scale is massive: over 19,000 real players (men and women), over 7,000 real teams, 30 leagues, and more than 120 stadiums. If authenticity matters to you - names, kits, clubs, venues - this is one of the strongest “yes” points.
So, should you play EA Sports FC 25?
If you want a modern EA football game with lots of licensed content, flexible play options (solo, local two-player, or online), and new hooks like Rush and FC IQ, EA Sports FC 25 (FIFA 25) is clearly built for that. If you’re mostly here for long campaigns, the Career updates - including playing as a woman and dynamic starting points - are worth a look. And if you just want to hop in with friends and get straight to the action, Rush sounds like the mode you’ll end up launching “just for one match” at 11 PM.
