How Legacy of Kain Defiance Remastered Plays

You don't pick a character. The game decides when you are Kain and when you are Raziel. Kain throws fire, turns into bats, and leaps across chasms. Raziel swims, shifts into the spectral realm, and phases through walls. Both wield the Soul Reaver, but their moves feel different. I died. A lot. Until I got the timing right.

Combat is combo-focused. You build up a special meter, then unleash a wide area attack when things get crowded. Telekinesis is there too - Raziel picks it up later, Kain has it from the start. Between fights, you solve environmental puzzles. Some rooms make you stop and think. Easy? Not really. But satisfying.

Health and power work differently per character. Raziel devours souls to refill. Kain drinks blood. You extend your meters by collecting special runes hidden around Nosgoth. The remaster cleans up the visuals - HD textures, improved lighting, modernized models. You can toggle between old and new presentation anytime.
