How Banquet for Fools Plays

Combat runs in real time with active pause. When your action bar fills, you stop, pick targets, then let chaos resume. You control one guard at a time; the rest follow formation settings. Switch leaders freely. Set up combos. Trust me on this - positioning matters more than raw stats.

Character growth is broad. Weapons, armor, rogue skills, music, animal binding, pagan magic - split into three paths: Fauna, Vines, and Spores. Spells can be customized. Songs add situational combat effects. Skills improve with use and level-ups. You can also train with NPC teachers.

Steal things. Get caught. Build a bounty. Decide to kill or stun enemies - stunning lets you turn them in for rewards. Kill them near the wrong forces? Ghost problems. It's a grim little touch. No simple good-or-bad meter here. Honest.

Quest scrolls replace a standard log. No auto-compass. Navigation is part of the puzzle. You explore towns, farms, rivers, and sea on foot or by boat - a pack-boro carries extra gear and even the boat itself. Small details make the world feel lived in.

Dialogue changes based on your party's stats. Different companions unlock different options with NPCs and each other. The island of Invimona has its own spice-farming politics, abandoned ruins, and pagan traditions. It shares a universe with Serpent in the Staglands.
