Halloween: The Game PC is IllFonic’s asymmetrical slasher-horror sandbox built around Michael Myers and the residents of Haddonfield. Steam uses the full title Halloween: The Game; Epic’s page title does too, although some Epic headings and earlier official copy shorten it to Halloween. This is a naming variation, not a separate legacy or replacement edition. IllFonic develops and publishes the game, with Gun Interactive as co-publisher.

How the 1v4 horror sandbox actually works

The central online mode is a 1v4 asymmetrical match: one player controls Michael Myers while four Civilians protect Haddonfield’s residents and try to get people out alive. Civilians locate NPC residents, persuade them that the threat is real, search points of interest, gather useful items and prepare randomized escape routes.

Haddonfield itself is part of the objective system. Telephones can involve the police, residents can hide or accompany Civilians, and NPCs may be equipped to resist Michael. As the town becomes aware of him, the response escalates, giving the killer a reason to control visibility rather than rush from victim to victim.

Michael receives Special Targets worth greater rewards, but he can hunt other residents too. Civilians balance their own survival against saving neighbors, while escape items and possible exits shift between matches. Both sides have reasons to scout instead of following one memorized route.

Death does not always end a Civilian player’s involvement. Eliminated players can return as a Sheriff’s Deputy or Dr. Loomis and support the survivors. Michael cannot be permanently killed in the match, but enough community resistance can lead to him being detained and returned to Smith’s Grove.

Michael Myers is built around stalking, darkness and sudden repositioning

Michael’s core tools emphasize deliberate stalking. Killer Sense shifts him into a first-person stalking perspective, helping identify nearby prey and build Stalk levels. Higher Stalk levels improve tracking and expand execution possibilities, rewarding patience before the attack.

Shape Jump is his signature mobility system. Michael can slip through darkness to move faster and access options such as Shape Dash, but he cannot freely enter or leave Shape Jump while clearly observed. Lighting and lines of sight therefore become gameplay resources rather than scenery.

Michael can shut off lights, cut power and trigger Blackouts. Unlockable abilities include options such as Reality Tear and Detection Pulse, while loadouts also cover starting weapons, skins, tints and executions. His role is built around map pressure and controlled ambushes, not constant pursuit.

Civilians have distinct stats and traits. Athleticism affects movement, Personality influences persuasion and resistance to fear and stalking, Resourcefulness covers repairs, awareness, vehicles and firearms, and Capability governs effectiveness with melee or throwable objects.

Single-player is a real story mode, not offline multiplayer filler

The solo component is a separate six-chapter story mode played as Michael Myers. It reimagines his escape from Smith’s Grove and return to Haddonfield, with Dr. Samuel J. Loomis narrating the aftermath and familiar locations such as the Myers House appearing alongside new areas.

Each chapter has fixed primary objectives but allows different approaches. Optional challenges and collectibles add lore, executions, alternate scenarios and multiplayer cosmetics. Multiple difficulty settings and multiple endings give the campaign reasons to replay chapters instead of simply clearing them once.

The game also supports private matches against AI for players who want to learn roles or explore multiplayer systems without public matchmaking. That is separate from the authored story campaign: one is a narrative Michael experience, the other is the match sandbox with AI opponents.

Progress spans four categories: Profile Level, Killer Level, Civilian Level and Weapon Level. Leveling unlocks Civilians, Michael abilities, starting items, cosmetics, executions and challenge tiers, with prestige available after reaching a progression cap.

Perk decks, maps and editions shape the long-term loop

Civilian builds revolve around a Perk Card system. Matches award Perk Points for randomized card rolls, with larger spends improving the chance of higher-rarity cards. Cards can be temporarily upgraded, then assembled into Perk Decks attached to Civilian loadouts.

The online pool includes four named multiplayer maps: Haddonfield Town Center, Haddonfield Heights, Orange Grove Estates and East Haddonfield. Their houses, streets, landmarks, hiding spaces and vehicle routes support stealth, pursuit, resident rescue and escalating police response.

The Standard Edition contains the base game, while the Digital Deluxe Edition adds the Civilians Richard and Alexis, an Inmate Michael Myers skin and other digital extras. No season pass is listed in the current official edition breakdown.

Players coming from asymmetrical slasher games like Friday the 13th: The Game will recognize the one-versus-many tension, but Halloween puts more mechanical weight on civilian NPCs, police escalation and Michael’s relationship with darkness.

PC storefront features, controls and localization

On PC, the game is distributed through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Steam lists full controller support, including Xbox controllers and USB-connected DualShock and DualSense pads, plus Steam Achievements, Trading Cards and Steam Cloud. Steam also lists Easy Anti-Cheat as kernel-level anti-cheat and notes that it requires manual removal after the game itself is uninstalled. Neither reviewed PC storefront lists a separate IllFonic launcher requirement.

Steam lists ten supported text/subtitle languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish from Spain, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Russian, Korean and Brazilian Portuguese. English is the only listed full-audio language. Polish is not currently listed.
