The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition is a remastered version of the game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim from 2011. The production is designed for personal computers and offers all expansions released for the original (Dragonborn, Dawnguard, Hearthfire) and a number of graphical improvements. The developers took care of such things as higher quality textures and effects, volumetric lighting and dynamic depth of field. Of course, all this is complemented by mods, which became famous for the "base", which is one of the most modified productions in history. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition was also released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. All editions offer more or less the same, although in the case of the PC version Bethesda decided to reward old fans. The game is given away for free to owners of the original Skyrim who purchased all the expansions or the Legendary Edition.

Story

The action of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition takes place 200 years after events told in Oblivion. During the game we play as one of the last living dovahkiin, that is beings speaking the language of dragons. Until recently, it seemed that the mighty monsters are just a memory, but one day the scaly beasts begin to appear in the sky again and it seems that the prophecy about the arrival of Alduin, the dragon god and the Devourer of Worlds is coming true. The player, of course, has the task of stopping the oncoming apocalypse, although on the way he will become entangled in dozens of smaller and larger conflicts plaguing the titular land of Skyrim.

Mechanics

The game in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition on PC, PS4, etc. starts with the creation of our virtual alter ego. We can choose from ten different races, but there is no division into classes - along with the progress in the game, our character simply develops the abilities he uses. After advancing to the next level, you can independently increase one of the three basic features - magic, endurance and health. The system of skills and spells in Special Edition is the same as in the original. Skils are therefore divided into clear groups, such as proficiency in one- or two-handed weapons. Additionally, our hero has some innate abilities as a dovahkiin: after defeating a dragon, he takes its soul, thanks to which he can perform so-called Screams. With their help, we can slow down time, repel enemies with invisible energy, and even summon an allied dragon to our aid. These powerful abilities we get after finding the ancient words, hidden in various nooks and crannies of Skyrim.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition uses the same dynamic, but tactically challenging combat system. Each of the hero's hands can be assigned a weapon, a shield or a spell. In this way, we create many combinations, for example, combining an offensive spell in one hand with a sword in the other. The direct battles are not only about mindless pressing of the keys, but also about maneuvering the hero, avoiding or parrying blows and knocking down opponents. Heroes can easily lose their balance and expose themselves to the blows of enemies. The player character can also make effective finishing blows.

When we get bored of saving the world, we can relax with more mundane activities. In The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition you can hunt, forge weapons in the smithy, cook, extract resources in the mines and even build your own house, get married and adopt a child. Side story minicampaigns available in the add-ons also allow you to face powerful vampire lords and the first dovahkiin.

The production offers the possibility to explore a huge virtual world, in which we can find, among others, five large cities and hundreds of undergrounds. In order to facilitate movement on such a large terrain, the authors introduced the option of fast travel between locations. In addition, the system of automatic adjustment of the strength of opponents to the skills of our daredevil was used. It selects tasks based on our previous achievements and character level. For example, when a woman asks us to find her kidnapped daughter, the system checks which areas we have already visited and then places the girl where we have not visited before, while adding such opponents that they pose a challenge to our hero.
