What Makes Deadfire Tick
Party size is five now. Smaller than the first game. That means every slot matters. You really think about who brings what. A priest for buffs, a wizard for crowd control, a rogue for single-target damage. Or maybe you just roll five barbarians. Yeah, that's a choice too.
The factions are where it gets messy. The Huana want tradition. The Valians want profit. The Royal Deadfire Company wants conquest. And then there's the Principi - pirates who want whatever isn't nailed down. You can work with all of them. Or none. I died a lot figuring out which quests break which alliances. If you liked Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition, the tactical depth here hits that same itch.
Combat is real-time with pause. Pause, issue orders, unpause, watch things explode. Or not explode. Sometimes you just stand there and stare while your tank gets shredded. It happens. Dual-classing opens up crazy combos - wizard/fighter, rogue/priest, paladin/chanter. Mix and match until something sticks. Import your save from Pillars of Eternity and the world reacts to your old choices.
