Elderborn

Elderborn is a slasher game developed by Hyperstrange, an independent Polish studio founded in April 2015. The source of inspiration for the creators were cult productions like Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and Arx Fatalis, as well as the Souls series.

Plot

Elderborn takes us on a journey to the fantastic land, where centuries ago its inhabitants managed to fend off an attack from the mysterious and terrifying Golden Army. Hundreds of years later the long forgotten enemy has returned and the player's task as an intrepid warrior is to uncover the secret of his power and deal with him once and for all.

Mechanics

In Elderborn we observe the action from a first person perspective (FPP). Traversing gloomy locations, among which we find dungeons bathed in darkness or gloomy ruins, we deal mainly with fighting with enemies. Opponents, such as bandits, undead or various monsters like oversized scorpions, we eliminate using a wide range of white weapons. Clashes are dynamic, and during them we have to not only block attacks, perform lightning-fast evasions and make quick counterattacks, but also carefully observe the movements of enemies to find their potential weak points, led by gaps in defense.

Technical issues

Although from a technical point of view the 3D graphics of Elderborn do not look particularly impressive, the imaginative enemies and gloomy designs of the locations can appeal. The game takes place to the accompaniment of a heavy metal soundtrack that effectively encourages to battle.
