Game Description
Persona 5 Strikers Deluxe Edition is the premium PC package for Persona 5 Strikers, a single-player action JRPG that combines Phantom Thieves storytelling with fast third-person hack-and-slash combat. The current Steam storefront uses the name Persona 5 Strikers for the base game and Digital Deluxe Edition for the bundle; it is not a modern rebrand, although the Japanese version is known as Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers.
Developed by ATLUS and Koei Tecmo's Omega Force, and published by SEGA, Strikers is best understood as a Persona story sequel built around real-time battlefield action rather than traditional turn-based encounters. It continues the Phantom Thieves' journey across Japan while replacing palaces with large supernatural prisons called Jails.
Real-time Persona combat with tactical pauses
The core loop alternates between story scenes, travel, shopping, cooking, requests, and infiltration. Once inside a Jail, the game shifts into real-time action combat against groups of Shadows, stronger captains, and large boss encounters. Battles are played from a flexible third-person perspective, with movement, camera control, melee attacks, ranged weapons, special skills, and Persona abilities all available during the fight.
Joker remains the central party member and can switch between multiple Personas during combat. Each Persona gives him access to a different collection of elemental skills and status effects, so exploiting enemy weaknesses still matters even though attacks happen continuously. The result is more deliberate than a simple crowd-clearing brawler: players must read enemy defenses, create openings, and choose when to spend limited resources.
You control one active Phantom Thief at a time and can quickly swap between party members. Every character has a distinct weapon set, movement rhythm, and attack pattern. Ryuji brings heavy close-range power, Ann uses ranged fire attacks, Yusuke emphasizes precision and counterattacks, while other members add their own strengths and elemental options.
The combat system also uses environmental objects and contextual attacks. Cars, lampposts, scaffolding, chandeliers, and other objects can become part of a character's assault when the battlefield allows it. These interactions help Strikers retain the stylish identity of Persona 5 while giving the arenas a more dynamic action-game structure.
Jails, weaknesses, and the BOND system
Each Jail is a self-contained distortion with its own visual theme, enemies, exploration route, puzzles, and Monarch confrontation. Unlike the calendar pressure of Persona 5, Strikers focuses on moving through these areas, gathering information, completing objectives, and returning to the road when the party is ready. Optional Requests provide additional battles, errands, upgrade materials, and repeatable challenges.
Enemy weaknesses are central to efficient combat. Hitting the correct element can expose a Shadow, create a 1-More opportunity, or set up a powerful team attack. Players can pause the flow of battle to select Persona skills and plan their next action, creating a useful bridge between Persona's menu-driven strategy and Omega Force's large-scale action format.
Joker's Persona roster can be expanded and refined through the Velvet Room, where Personas can be registered, strengthened, and fused into new forms. This gives the protagonist a flexible build path that the other Phantom Thieves do not share. Managing skills, elemental coverage, healing, and defensive options becomes increasingly important as enemy groups and bosses demand better preparation.
The Persona 5 Confidant structure is not carried over directly. Instead, Strikers uses the BOND system, which grants party-wide improvements and practical bonuses as the group grows closer and progresses through the journey. BOND abilities can improve combat effectiveness, recovery, cooking, item access, and other parts of the road-trip loop.
What the Deluxe Edition actually adds
The Deluxe Edition includes the complete single-player game rather than a separate story campaign. Its gameplay content is built around the same Jails, party roster, requests, Persona fusion, and progression systems found in the standard version.
The bundle adds the Persona Legacy BGM package, which brings battle music from earlier Persona games into Strikers. It also includes the All-Out Attack Pack, a separate gameplay add-on listed for the PC version, along with a digital bonus application.
The bonus application contains a digital art book, a soundtrack with more than 40 songs, and behind-the-scenes video material. These extras are aimed at collectors and soundtrack-focused fans rather than players looking for a larger campaign. If the priority is only the story and combat, the standard edition contains the essential game experience.
Persona 5 Strikers also has additional paid content available separately on Steam. The important distinction is that the Deluxe package bundles the named Legacy BGM and All-Out Attack content, while the base game remains a one-time purchase rather than a free-to-play title.
Who should play Persona 5 Strikers?
Strikers is a strong fit for players who want more time with the Phantom Thieves but are comfortable with a much more action-focused structure. It preserves the cast, visual language, dramatic presentation, elemental weaknesses, Persona collection, and social atmosphere of the series while changing the moment-to-moment battle system.
It is especially suitable for fans of action JRPGs, anime-styled adventures, character-driven road trips, and Musou-inspired combat. Players who enjoy building a party around elemental coverage and then executing those plans in real time will find more depth here than the crowd-focused presentation initially suggests.
It is less suitable for anyone expecting the full life-simulation schedule, relationship calendar, or turn-based battle format of Persona 5. Strikers has downtime, conversations, shopping, cooking, and optional requests, but its structure is more linear and its combat is substantially faster. The game also assumes familiarity with the Phantom Thieves, so newcomers may miss context that returning Persona 5 players will immediately understand.
For another anime-styled action RPG built around modern urban settings and real-time party combat, urban-fantasy action JRPGs such as Tokyo Xanadu eX+ offer a useful comparison, although Strikers is more focused on large enemy groups and Persona mechanics.
PC features and platform details
The PC version is distributed through Steam and includes full controller support alongside a keyboard-and-mouse adaptation. A controller is the natural fit for players who want analog movement and quick character switching, while keyboard and mouse remain available for those who prefer direct camera and menu control.
Steam lists the game as single-player, with Steam Achievements, Steam Trading Cards, and Family Sharing. There is no official online multiplayer, local co-op, split-screen mode, or competitive mode. The party is controlled by one player, even when several Phantom Thieves are active in battle.
The PC edition supports English and Japanese voice audio. Interface and subtitle localization covers English, French, Italian, German, Spanish from Spain, Korean, Japanese, and Traditional Chinese. Steam also identifies Denuvo Anti-tamper as third-party DRM and requires agreement to a third-party end-user license.
Display support includes Full HD presentation and resolutions up to 4K, while the PC release retains the stylized menus, animated scenes, and high-contrast visual design associated with Persona 5. The storefront also lists 47 Steam Achievements for completion-focused players.
Comparable PC games
The closest mechanical comparison is a licensed Musou action RPG: enter a themed battlefield, control a distinctive hero, clear dense enemy formations, exploit special attacks, and defeat stronger targets. Fate/EXTELLA LINK's high-speed anime Musou combat shares that broad structure, but Persona 5 Strikers adds weakness management, Persona fusion, party switching, and a more substantial narrative road-trip framework.
Players seeking another character-led JRPG with real-time battles can also consider story-driven action JRPG combat in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. Its party commands and action battles are more cinematic and encounter-focused, while Strikers leans harder into crowd control, elemental exploitation, and the rhythm of repeated Jail infiltration.
Persona 5 Strikers Deluxe Edition FAQ
What is the current PC storefront name?
Steam currently lists the base game as Persona 5 Strikers and the premium package as Persona 5 Strikers - Digital Deluxe Edition. Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers is the Japanese title, not a current replacement name for the PC storefront listing.
Does the Deluxe Edition include the complete game?
Yes. The Deluxe Edition includes the full Persona 5 Strikers campaign and its core combat, Jail exploration, party progression, Persona fusion, Requests, and BOND systems. Its extra value comes from bundled music, bonus content, and the All-Out Attack Pack rather than a separate expansion campaign.
What bonus content is included?
The package includes Persona Legacy BGM, the All-Out Attack Pack, and a digital bonus application containing an art book, a soundtrack with more than 40 songs, and behind-the-scenes material.
Does Persona 5 Strikers have co-op or multiplayer?
No. The PC version is an official single-player game. You control the active Phantom Thief and direct the rest of the party through the game's combat systems.
Is Persona 5 Strikers turn-based?
No. Battles are real-time, with melee combos, ranged attacks, Persona skills, character switching, environmental attacks, and pause-and-plan command selection. Weaknesses and tactical party composition remain important, but the combat is not the turn-based system used by Persona 5.
Does the PC version support controllers?
Yes. Steam lists full controller support, and the PC version also includes keyboard-and-mouse controls. Controller input suits the game's third-person movement, camera work, combos, and rapid party switching particularly well.
Is Persona 5 Strikers connected to Persona 5 Royal?
Strikers continues the Phantom Thieves storyline from Persona 5 and is designed around the original group's established journey. It does not function as an expanded Royal edition and should be approached as a separate action-focused follow-up rather than a replacement for Persona 5 Royal.
