Game Description

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE on PC is a single-player action JRPG that rebuilds Midgar around real-time combat, party commands, Materia customization, and a separate Yuffie adventure. The current Steam and Epic Games Store listings still use the exact Intergrade name; it is the expanded PC edition of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE rather than a renamed or rebranded product.

Square Enix developed and published the game, which follows Cloud Strife and Avalanche during the opening Midgar portion of the wider FINAL FANTASY VII story. The scope is deliberately focused: this is not the complete original adventure, but a substantially expanded, cinematic interpretation of its first major setting.

Real-time combat with tactical commands

The main campaign uses a hybrid battle system that combines direct third-person action with the series' command-based RPG structure. Cloud, Barret, Tifa, and Aerith can attack in real time, reposition around enemies, evade danger, and exploit openings, while the ATB gauge enables abilities, spells, items, and special commands.

ATB management gives the combat its tactical identity. Normal attacks help fill the gauge, but the most effective approach changes from enemy to enemy. You may need to target elemental weaknesses, pressure opponents, interrupt dangerous actions, or build stagger before committing to a limit break or high-cost ability.

Players can switch between active party members instantly. Cloud is a close-range swordsman, Barret provides ranged pressure, Tifa excels at rapid physical attacks, and Aerith controls distance with powerful magic. The party system is more than a cosmetic rotation because enemy attention and combat roles shift whenever you take direct control of another character.

Classic Mode adds an alternative control style on the Normal difficulty setting. Characters perform basic attacks automatically while you concentrate on selecting commands, but you can still intervene manually at any time. It is not a traditional turn-based mode, yet it offers a slower, more command-focused way to approach battles.

Materia, weapons, and character development

Materia provides the core build system. Equipping green, blue, yellow, and purple Materia changes what characters can cast, support, learn, or improve. The important decisions are not only about individual spells; linked slots and party roles encourage combinations that make healing, elemental damage, defensive support, and status effects work together.

Weapons remain meaningful after they are acquired. Each weapon has its own ability that can be learned through repeated use, then carried forward even after you change equipment. Upgrades add another layer of specialization, letting the same character lean toward raw damage, survivability, magic, or a more balanced setup.

The campaign also includes Limit Breaks, summons, enemy abilities, side quests, combat reports, and optional virtual reality challenges. These systems reward players who investigate encounters instead of simply repeating one attack pattern. Hard difficulty, available after completing the main story, turns resource management and boss knowledge into a much larger part of the experience.

Outside combat, the game alternates between linear story chapters, compact exploration areas, side activities, environmental puzzles, and set-piece sequences. The structure is closer to a cinematic action RPG than an open-world game, with Midgar's neighborhoods serving as connected hubs rather than one continuous map.

What Intergrade includes

The PC package includes the full FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE campaign and FF7R EPISODE INTERmission. The additional episode stars Wutai ninja Yuffie Kisaragi, who infiltrates Midgar with Sonon Kusakabe while working with Avalanche's headquarters to pursue powerful Materia.

INTERmission is not a cosmetic bonus chapter. Yuffie has a distinct combat style built around a throwing star, ranged attacks, elemental ninjutsu, and rapid movement. Sonon supports her in battle, and the episode introduces its own encounters, story scenes, exploration challenges, and the Fort Condor strategy mini-game.

The Intergrade edition also includes PC-version bonus content and the additional equipment and summon Materia listed with the storefront product. The commercial model is straightforward: the base purchase contains both the main game and INTERmission, while there is no free-to-play progression system or recurring seasonal content.

Players should approach the campaign as the first substantial chapter of a larger remake project. Its conclusion is intentionally focused on Midgar, and the story expands the original material with new scenes, character development, and altered narrative beats rather than reproducing every event in the same order.

Who should play it on PC

This is a strong fit for players who want a story-heavy JRPG with active combat and a controllable party. It suits newcomers because the major systems are introduced gradually, while returning fans will find familiar locations, characters, music, Materia concepts, and encounters presented through a significantly different structure.

The game is less suitable if you want a fully open world, traditional turn-based battles, multiplayer progression, or a complete retelling of the entire original FINAL FANTASY VII in one purchase. Its strongest loop is story progression, party optimization, enemy analysis, and optional challenge content, not unrestricted exploration.

It also asks players to engage with cinematic pacing. Some chapters prioritize dialogue, traversal, and spectacle over combat density. That rhythm gives the characters room to develop, but players seeking constant battles or a large sandbox may find the linear structure restrictive.

PC controls and platform features

The PC version supports keyboard and mouse controls as well as XInput and DirectInput-compatible controllers. A gamepad is the natural fit for the action combat, but keyboard players can still manage movement, camera control, shortcuts, and command selection through a configurable PC control scheme.

Square Enix's PC version includes improved visual options, 4K support, HDR support, and a customizable Photo Mode. Photo Mode is available during suitable gameplay moments and provides framing and presentation tools for capturing Midgar's environments, characters, and combat scenes.

Steam lists single-player functionality, Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, Steam Trading Cards, Family Sharing, controller support, and eleven supported interface or subtitle languages. Full audio is available in English, French, German, and Japanese, while subtitle and interface coverage also includes Italian, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean.

The PC editions are distributed through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The Epic listing includes achievements, cloud saves, and controller support, while the Steam version adds its own achievement and cloud ecosystem. There is no verified co-op, split-screen, competitive multiplayer, or online party mode: the complete experience is designed for one player.

Related action JRPGs on PC

Players drawn to fast character switching, dramatic boss encounters, and command-heavy action may also enjoy cinematic action JRPGs such as Kingdom Hearts III and Re-Mind. Its combat is more focused on aerial movement and real-time ability chains, but it shares the same emphasis on spectacle, party-driven storytelling, and active character control.

For a broader collection of interconnected action RPG stories, story-led Japanese RPG packages like Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue offer another route into character-focused adventures built around real-time encounters and structured chapter progression.

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE FAQ

Is FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE the current PC name?

Yes. The active Steam and Epic Games Store listings use FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE. It is the enhanced edition name for the PC package and includes the Yuffie-led INTERmission episode.

Does Intergrade include the full original FINAL FANTASY VII story?

No. The main campaign covers the expanded Midgar portion of the remake project. It is a complete playable campaign in its own right, but it does not contain the entire original game's world and story.

Is FF7R EPISODE INTERmission included on PC?

Yes. The PC Intergrade product includes the main FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE campaign and FF7R EPISODE INTERmission in the same purchase. INTERmission is a separate Yuffie-focused story arc with unique combat mechanics and Fort Condor activities.

Does the PC version have co-op or multiplayer?

No. Steam identifies the game as single-player, and the campaign, INTERmission episode, VR battles, and optional challenges are all designed for solo play.

Can I play with a keyboard and mouse?

Yes. The PC version supports keyboard and mouse input, along with XInput and DirectInput-compatible controllers. A controller provides the most conventional action-RPG setup, but keyboard controls are supported.

Does the game have a classic or turn-based combat option?

Classic Mode automates basic attacks while letting you issue commands manually on Normal difficulty. It does not convert the game into fully turn-based combat, because battles, movement, enemy behavior, and positioning still happen in real time.

What languages and audio options are available?

The PC storefront listings support English, French, German, Japanese, Italian, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean for interface or subtitles. Full audio is available in English, French, German, and Japanese.
