Assassins Creed Valhalla

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is the twelfth main installment in the bestselling sandbox series. Although the beginnings of the series represented the action game genre, over time it has evolved into action RPGs; this is also the case here. The title was developed by fifteen development teams belonging to Ubisoft under the leadership of Ubisoft Montreal.

The action of Assassin's Creed: Valhalla takes place in the north of 9th century Europe. We assume the role of a Viking clan leader named Eivor; interestingly, we can not only choose a female or male version of the protagonist, but also let the animus switch between these versions at specific moments (and this is a canonical option). After leaving conflict-ridden Norway and crossing the North Sea, the protagonist and his entourage arrive on the shores of England. Unfortunately, there is a bloody power struggle in this resource-rich land, and the Eivor clan attracts the attention of Alfred the Great of Wessex, who not only claims to be the rightful ruler of England, but also condemns the pagan Vikings. In order to make England his new home and secure his place in the titular Valhalla, Eivor and his warriors must fight. Their further fate depends on the alliances we make or dialogue issues we choose.

The game in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla starts with a decision about Eivor's appearance: we can modify his hairstyle, tattoos, war colors and elements of equipment. During the game we observe the action from the third person perspective (TPP). The driving force of the game are story tasks (divided into chapters lasting 2-3 hours) and numerous missions and side activities. Decisions we make often influence the future of Eivor and his (her) clan. Apart from that we carry out raids on areas rich in resources, not only increasing our sphere of influence, but also gaining resources necessary to expand our settlement.

The combat system known from the previous parts of the series has been improved to reflect the ruthlessness of the Vikings, including greater emphasis on using two weapons at once. In addition, enemies can be eliminated silently, making use of a hidden blade. The combat potential of Eivor can be increased by upgrading weapons and armor with the help of runes.

The open world of Valhalla consists of Norway (we leave it in the first phase of the game, but at any time you can return to it), England and some additional territories. In the latter, we find both large cities, namely London, Winchester and Jórvík (York), as well as a number of smaller settlements and numerous landmarks and buildings, led by Hadrian's Wall and Stonehenge. Travel on foot is enhanced by the series' signature parkour system. Seafaring, on the other hand, is based on mechanics known from Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, which are adapted to the specific time and place of the action.

In AC: Valhalla, the protagonist's ship is a drakkar, a boat used by the Vikings for sea and river navigation. On its board can be found the whole team, helping the protagonist in the game. An important change from AC: Odyssey is the fact that Eivor's ship can be summoned anywhere, standing by the water, and not only in designated ports. Like the earlier installments in the series, Assassin's Creed: Valhalla boasts excellent visuals and an atmospheric soundtrack that captures the spirit of the era.

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla doesn't include multiplayer option. The basis of the game is single player campaign.
