Vampire Survivors

Vampire Survivors is a dynamic production that combines elements of the rogue-lite, action RPG and bullet hell shooter genres. In the work of the independent studio poncle, we take control of a lone daredevil facing waves of enemies. The title is characterized by a minimalist, yet very dynamic gameplay model. The whole game is decorated with simple two-dimensional graphics in a pixel art style.

Mechanics

The main aim of the game in Vampire Survivors is to keep the protagonist alive as long as possible, which is hindered by increasingly powerful hordes of monsters. The game's protagonist automatically performs attacks, while we maneuver between enemies to make the most effective use of his abilities.

The key to success is to constantly stay on the move and collect experience crystals, with which we can develop the character. With each entry to a new level, we improve our alter ego by choosing one of the available options. Among them appear, for example, increasing the strength of the weapons used, selecting an additional piece or items that affect the hero's statistics. Exceeding the required experience thresholds also unlocks access to new locations.

The developers put at our disposal dozens of characters, which we unlock with coins collected during each approach to the game. Some of them also require meeting certain conditions, such as finding a required item or defeating a specific number of enemies of a given type. The characters differ from each other with initial bonuses and weaponry including a whip, magic wand, axe, holy water, a pair of pistols and many others. Each weapon has advantages as well as disadvantages - some of them inflict high damage in one direction only, while others hit random enemies.

Popularity

High replayability, low price and presence in streaming services have ensured Vampire Survivors a lot of interest and excellent ratings. The title broke records of active users months before its official release, made possible by the launch of early access on Steam.
