Creators of The Last of Us on PC address gamers' concerns, aware of issues
Numerous difficulties plaguing The Last of Us on PC have not escaped the attention of developers at Naughty Dog. The team behind the series released a statement, informing about their efforts to develop a proper update.
The debut of The Last of Us on PC was certainly not what Naughty Dog had envisioned. Players who invested in the title are struggling with a host of issues, including subpar optimization. The community has been vocal about its dissatisfaction, and the creators have decided to respond with an official statement.
Naughty Dog to the rescue
On their official website, they informed that they are analyzing reports and are in the process of developing a patch that should remove (hopefully):
- extended shader loading times;
- performance and stability drops during background shader loading;
- instability issues with older graphics card drivers;
- inability to launch the game despite meeting minimum hardware requirements;
- potential memory leaks.
Wave of negative reviews
The developers have several serious issues to resolve. However, before they can do so, The Last of Us PC will amass a considerable number of negative comments, which is already a cause for concern. At the moment, Naughty Dog's creation has received 5571 negative reviews on Steam, translating to a 33% approval rate - the reception of the game is thus "mostly negative".
Troublesome collaborator?
It is worth noting an interesting aspect of this situation. Iron Galaxy Studios collaborated on porting the game to PC. This independent team, known for the multiplayer game Rumbleverse, is also involved in developing conversions for various platforms. In the past, Iron Galaxy Studios faced issues in preparing PC versions of games, as was the case with Batman: Arkham Knight, which was also far from perfect. On the other hand, the recently released Metroid Prime Remastered for Nintendo Switch turned out to be a successful project for the studio.
