BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW is a first-person psychological horror entry in the Japanese adventure horror series BrokenLore. You step into the role of Anne, a victim of bullying, and you wake up in a surreal nightmare where the monsters are not just monsters - they are symbols. Each creature you meet represents a specific trauma from her past, and the game keeps pushing you to ask a simple question: do you face it, or do you keep running?
What you do in BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW
You experience everything from a first-person view (FPP). You move through unsettling locations, trying to understand where you are and why this world feels so personal. As you explore, you collect notes that gradually shed more light on Anne’s story and the mystery around her. It’s the kind of setup where every small detail can feel loaded - a scribble, a message, a hint that something happened long before you arrived.
The game leans into themes like the impact of social media on mental health, the effects of harassment and bullying, trauma, and body dysmorphia. You’re not given a distant lecture. You’re placed inside a nightmare that reflects those topics through situations, choices, and the things that chase you.
Survival means avoiding direct fights
This is not a power fantasy. When a creature notices you, direct confrontation generally isn’t the point. The focus is on avoidance and escape. Sometimes the smartest move is simply to get out of sight and keep moving. And yes, that can be stressful in the best and worst ways - the kind where you catch yourself hesitating at a doorway because you don’t want to be seen.
Puzzles, items, and interacting with the world
Alongside exploration and story discovery, you solve puzzles. They’re built around interacting with selected elements of the environment, looking for key objects, and using them in the right place and in the right way. If you like horror that makes you slow down, look around, and think for a second (even while your nerves say “don’t stop”), this structure is central to how you progress.
The smartphone system and the follower count
A big part of BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW is Anne’s smartphone. It comes with multiple functions and plays an important role in how you navigate the experience. One standout idea is the follower counter, which increases as you move forward. It’s a simple mechanic on paper, but in a story about social media’s influence, it can feel like the game is watching your progress the same way a feed watches a person - numbers going up, pressure going up, questions piling up. What does it mean to be “followed” in a nightmare?
Choices and multiple endings
Your decisions matter. The story’s course and its ending are shaped largely by the choices you make, leading to multiple endings. That gives your playthrough a bit of weight: you’re not only trying to survive the next encounter, you’re also shaping how Anne processes what happened to her. Do you push toward answers, or do you dodge the hardest truths?
Series context (so you know what you’re jumping into)
BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW is part of the BrokenLore series. An earlier entry, BrokenLore: Low, released in February 2025, and UNFOLLOW continues the label’s approach: adventure horror with a psychological edge. This game is developed by Serafini Productions, the studio behind the ongoing cycle.
Who might enjoy BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW
- You want first-person horror where tension comes from being hunted, not from fighting.
- You like exploration driven by notes, clues, and piecing together a narrative.
- You’re interested in horror that tackles social media, bullying, trauma, and body image themes.
- You enjoy games where choices shape the ending and invite replay.
In the end, BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW is about being pursued - by creatures, by memories, and by the echo of other people’s judgments. You keep moving, you solve what you can, and you decide what Anne becomes on the way out. Assuming there is a way out.
