Progress works in a metroidvania-like way: as you gain new tools and abilities, you can reach previously blocked paths and open up more of each area.

Your mobile base: the zeppelin

Between operations, you travel with your crew aboard a zeppelin that serves as a mobile base. It’s a nice framing device: you’re not just hopping between levels, you’re running a roaming heist outfit. Prior to this, Styx honed his stealth expertise in the prequel Styx: Master of Shadows, building the foundation for his goblin cunning.

Stealth tools, powers, and that risky new Quartz

Styx comes prepared. You use potions and a broad set of abilities, mixing them depending on what the situation demands. Some powers return, and some are new - and the new ones can change how you recover from mistakes.

• Amber skills: cloning and invisibility are back. Clones can distract enemies and help with environmental puzzles that need “two pairs of hands.” Invisibility gives you a brief window to slip past a guard line or reset a bad approach.
• Quartz abilities: mind control and time manipulation enter the toolkit. Time shifting can buy you extra seconds when you’re spotted - that small gap between panic and a clean escape route.

Story context: war on the horizon and the Black Hand

The plot follows Styx as he hunts Quartz - precious, dangerous, and not fully understood. You meet familiar faces and new characters while dealing with traps set by the Inquisition. In the background, tensions across the continent of Iserian rise toward the Great War. The game also explores the origins of the Black Hand, the mercenary group that later becomes central to Of Orcs and Men (where Styx previously appeared as a main character).
