Game Description
Darksiders III Deluxe Edition on PC is a third-person hack-and-slash action RPG from Gunfire Games and THQ Nordic. The current Steam package still uses the name Darksiders III Deluxe Edition rather than a rebrand or replacement title; Epic Games lists the base game as Darksiders III and sells its add-ons separately. This edition combines Fury's single-player campaign with the soundtrack and both major DLC adventures.
Fury is one of the Four Horsemen, sent by the Charred Council to hunt the Seven Deadly Sins across a ruined Earth. The story is structured around boss hunts, exploration, environmental puzzles, and a gradually expanding set of supernatural abilities.
Fury's Combat And Exploration Loop
Darksiders III is built around third-person melee combat, deliberate positioning, and fast reactions. Fury begins with her whip, then expands her arsenal through new Hollow forms that change her attacks, special abilities, and movement options. Combat is not simply about repeating one combo; enemy range, attack timing, spacing, and the choice of weapon all affect how safely you can approach an encounter.
Fury can dodge incoming attacks, perform counters, use items, and build access to stronger powers while moving through hostile areas. The game rewards players who read attack patterns instead of treating every fight as a damage race. Boss encounters are the clearest expression of this design, with each Sin demanding a different response to reach its openings.
The campaign takes place across an interconnected world rather than a sequence of completely separate stages. Fury moves back and forth through damaged streets, underground passages, natural spaces, and supernatural locations, returning to earlier areas when a newly acquired ability reveals another route.
Exploration and combat constantly overlap. A passage may be blocked by an environmental obstacle, while a nearby Hollow form provides the ability needed to reach it. This creates a light Metroidvania-style progression loop without turning Darksiders III into a pure exploration game.
Hollow Forms, Weapons, And Progression
Fury's defining system is the collection of Hollow forms. Each form gives her a distinct elemental identity, a different weapon type, and new ways to interact with the environment. The forms are useful in battle, but they also function as exploration tools that open paths, solve puzzles, and expose secrets.
Weapons and abilities are supported by enhancements that improve Fury's combat capabilities. Attribute points provide another layer of progression, allowing players to strengthen core characteristics and shape a more aggressive, durable, or ability-focused version of Fury.
The combat update added two selectable rulesets: Default Combat preserves the original design, while Classic Combat allows Fury to interrupt attacks with a dodge and use items instantly. The choice can be changed during play and does not alter achievements or the game's underlying difficulty. Players coming from the earlier Darksiders games may prefer Classic Combat, while others may enjoy the commitment and timing demanded by Default Combat.
Fury also has access to Wrath abilities and Havoc Form, giving experienced players stronger options for difficult encounters. These powers work best when treated as part of a broader combat plan rather than emergency buttons used without regard for timing or resources.
What The Deluxe Edition Includes
On Steam, the current Deluxe package contains two items: Darksiders III and Darksiders III - Digital Extras. The Digital Extras include the soundtrack and the two paid content expansions, The Crucible and Keepers of the Void.
The Crucible adds a combat-focused challenge in which Fury faces successive enemy waves and earns access to additional rewards and items. It is a natural fit for players who want to test their build and combat knowledge after spending time with the main campaign.
Keepers of the Void sends Fury into the Serpent Holes on a quest from Vulgrim. The expansion adds new puzzles, enemies, weapons from the Hollows, and the Abyssal Armor. It extends the game's exploration and combat systems instead of replacing them with a separate genre or structure.
Epic's current storefront presents Darksiders III as the base game and lists The Crucible and Keepers of the Void as separate add-ons. That distinction matters when comparing editions: the Steam Deluxe package explicitly bundles the main game with Digital Extras, while the Epic catalog does not present the same product under a Deluxe Edition name.
Who Should Play It?
Darksiders III suits PC players who want single-player action RPG combat, a dark fantasy setting, recognizable boss targets, and exploration that gradually opens through new abilities. It is especially appealing if you enjoy learning enemy patterns but still want a more expressive weapon-and-combo system than a purely defensive action RPG.
The game is less suitable for players looking for co-op, competitive multiplayer, extensive character creation, or a loot-driven build system with constant equipment replacement. Fury's progression is based on fixed weapon families, forms, enhancements, and attributes rather than random gear drops.
Players who prefer the earlier Darksiders games should also understand the combat shift. Darksiders III keeps the series' comic-book fantasy identity and puzzle exploration, but its timing-focused encounters place more pressure on dodging, counters, healing windows, and careful engagement.
For a more equipment-driven science-fiction take on third-person soulslike combat, action RPG progression with targeted melee encounters like The Surge offers a useful comparison, although its limb-focused loot system is much more specialized.
PC Features And Localization
The PC version is available through the Steam and Epic storefront ecosystems. Steam lists Steam Cloud, achievements, trading cards, Family Sharing, and Remote Play support for compatible devices. These are platform features rather than multiplayer modes; the campaign itself is listed as single-player only.
Epic lists controller support and cloud saves for the Windows version, and the storefront recommends using a controller. The game is designed around close-range combat, lock-on encounters, dodges, and counters, so a controller is a sensible option for players who want the intended action-game layout.
Steam lists interface and subtitle support in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian, Czech, and Persian. Full audio is listed for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Polish, and Russian, while the remaining supported languages provide interface and subtitle localization.
No separate competitive multiplayer, co-op mode, or dedicated anti-cheat feature is advertised on the current PC storefront listings. The practical PC experience is therefore centered on solo exploration, combat mastery, achievements, and optional platform conveniences.
Similar Games On PC
Darksiders III occupies a middle ground between traditional character-action games and soulslike action RPGs. Its combat is more combo-oriented than many genre peers, while its interconnected zones and punishing encounters ask players to manage risk and learn patterns.
For another dark fantasy third-person action RPG with deliberate dodging, boss fights, and exploration, challenging soulslike combat and build experimentation in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a strong comparison, though its setting and character systems follow a different direction.
The closest alternative depends on what you value most. Choose Darksiders III for Fury's weapon-changing Hollow system, environmental puzzle progression, and comic-book apocalypse. Choose a more conventional soulslike if you want deeper equipment experimentation, broader build archetypes, or multiplayer systems.
Darksiders III Deluxe Edition FAQ
Is Darksiders III Deluxe Edition still the current name on PC?
Yes. Steam currently lists Darksiders III Deluxe Edition as a package containing Darksiders III and Darksiders III - Digital Extras. There is no verified official rebrand that replaces this title with a Definitive, Complete, or other renamed PC edition.
Does the Deluxe Edition include both Darksiders III DLC expansions?
Yes. The package includes The Crucible and Keepers of the Void through the Digital Extras item, along with the Darksiders III soundtrack.
What is the difference between Default Combat and Classic Combat?
Default Combat uses the original Darksiders III rules. Classic Combat lets Fury interrupt attacks with a dodge and use items instantly, creating a faster response loop that is closer to the earlier Darksiders games.
Does Darksiders III Deluxe Edition have co-op or multiplayer?
No. The PC storefront listings identify the game as single-player. Steam Remote Play features are available as platform conveniences, but they do not convert the campaign into online co-op or split-screen multiplayer.
Is a controller supported on PC?
Yes. Epic lists controller support for the Windows version and recommends a controller. Steam also lists Remote Play and other platform features, while the game's combat is designed around dodging, counters, lock-on encounters, and quick weapon access.
How does progression work in Darksiders III?
Progression comes from new Hollow forms, weapon access, enhancements, attribute points, Wrath abilities, and Havoc Form. The game is not built around random loot drops or traditional selectable character classes; Fury's options expand as she defeats enemies, solves puzzles, and explores the world.
