Crossroads Inn

Crossroads Inn combines elements of simulation, economic strategy and RPG. The production was developed by Polish studio Kraken Unleashed Games, which is an internal team of Klabater.

Storyline

Crossroads Inn takes us on a journey to the fantastic land of Delcrys. The main hero of the game is the last living descendant of King Owen (all the others died in unexplained circumstances and the monarch himself was poisoned as a result of a conspiracy of magnates). He is aided by Martyn Bradver, the owner of a decaying inn located at the crossroads of the largest trade routes and a former soldier who managed to gain enough trust from King Owen to make him his heir's guardian.

The story told in the game has a non-linear course; the fate of the entire Delcrys is influenced not only by our business decisions, but also relationships with guests and which factions we will cooperate with. The choices we make will lead us to one of twelve possible endings.

Mechanics

In Crossroads Inn we can freely manipulate the camera, although the isometric view works best. During the game we take care of the inn; although at the beginning we just try to keep our place afloat, with time we start to transform it into a place famous in the whole Delcrys land. In order to do that we have to manage supplies, prepare recipes for dishes from our menu and hire workers representing seven specialties (including bards and courtesans; their skills grow as we progress). In addition, we are responsible for expanding and furnishing the inn and keeping it in a style that encourages visits from various social groups - from local warlords and drunks, through thieves, paid assassins and vagabonds, to adventurers and aristocrats.

Game modes

The mainstay of Crossroads Inn is the story mode. Apart from that, the developers have prepared special time-limited scenarios and a sandbox module, in which we devote ourselves solely to managing the inn and working on new recipes. Besides, the game includes an editor integrated with Steam Workshop, which allows you to easily create fan-made modifications.

Technical issues

Three-dimensional graphics of Crossroads Inn were made in cel-shading technique (although you can also turn this filter off if you don't like it). The soundtrack was created by Marcin Przybyłowicz, known for the soundtrack to The Witcher 3: Wild Game.
