How Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin Plays

The gameplay loop is deceptively simple. You explore side-scrolling levels and beat up demons with a hoe. Then return home to plant rice. Sounds easy? Not really. The rice farming is shockingly deep - soil composition, water levels, temperature, all affect your harvest. Not gonna lie, the rice mechanics are deeper than most RPG skill trees.

Combat uses the same farming tools. Your sickle becomes a weapon. Your hoe? A blunt instrument of justice. You unlock new skills from the Skill Tree, making combat more fluid over time. Between missions, you cook meals that give buffs, craft gear from materials, and bond with followers.

Inspired by farming sims? Check out Stardew Valley for a purer farming experience. Available in English, Japanese, Korean and Traditional Chinese.

This one is for people who like their action with a side of agriculture. You will die, replant, and come back stronger. Not every game lets you grow rice and kick demons. Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin Deluxe Edition does exactly that.
