Deaths Door

Death's Door is an action game presented from an isometric perspective, where the most important element is the exploration of inhospitable worlds and fighting with enemies. Production has very artistic graphic design and was created by small studio Acid Nerve.

The story of Death's Door takes place in a world where Ravens form well-organized communities and are divided by the duties they perform. The main character's job is to find the souls of the dead in the world beyond the Gate. Despite the monotony of this job, he enjoys it very much. Things get complicated, however, when an unknown thief steals one of the souls and starts to run with it through the land full of old, power-hungry creatures.

In the course of the story we will meet many powerful opponents, with the terrible titans at the top. Each of them has its own history and motivations, according to which he acts. In addition, we also learn the truth about the role of the Raven during the transfer of souls, and the narrative is filled with black humor.

The gameplay is based on arcade combat and exploration of available levels. We observe everything from an isometric perspective, except for a few directed cutscenes.

During the battles Raven uses mainly his short sword, but he can also support himself with magical ranged attacks. Apart from striking out on our own, we also dodge our opponents' attacks by turning around at the right moment. Enemies standing in Raven's way take on various macabre shapes, depicting the horrors of the land of the dead. We'll have to face not only wraiths resembling dolls or monsters looking like overgrown frogs, but also huge mechanical castles shooting lasers or "knights" formed from bits of scrap metal joined together. They are divided into ordinary, serial enemies filling the locations, and more difficult to defeat bosses with unique attacks and behaviors. Each of them is connected to a small story, expanding the lore of the game world and allowing us to look at the main story from a different perspective.

Death's Door has also implemented a simple system of upgrading our character. Thanks to gained experience points we can improve Raven's stats or specific skills.

Death's Door is distinguished by original graphic design, which looks as if it was painted by hand. The attention is also drawn by colorful lighting and particle effects, contrasting with the gloomy atmosphere of the locations.
