Game Description
Lies of P PC is a third-person soulslike action RPG from Round8 Studio and NEOWIZ. The current storefront name remains Lies of P rather than a renamed edition. On PC, players can buy the standalone base game through Steam or the Epic Games Store, then add the separately purchased Lies of P: Overture expansion.
Combat Built Around Timing and Recovery
Lies of P places you in the role of Geppetto's puppet, P, as he searches the ruined city of Krat during a violent puppet uprising. Its combat uses the familiar structure of a demanding action RPG: read enemy patterns, manage stamina, choose when to attack, and recover lost health through well-timed aggression.
The defining defensive tool is the Perfect Guard. Blocking at the correct moment prevents incoming damage and builds pressure toward an enemy's stagger state. Regular guarding can also create Guard Regain, allowing P to recover some lost health by striking back before the temporary recovery window closes. Dodging remains important, but the game frequently rewards players who learn attack timing instead of relying on evasive movement alone.
Once an opponent becomes vulnerable, charged attacks and other heavy hits can expose a fatal attack opportunity. Boss encounters push this system further with long attack strings, delayed strikes, multiple phases, and punish windows that require patience. The result is a combat loop based less on character level alone and more on recognizing animations and choosing safe moments to commit.
Weapon Assembly, Legion Arms, and Build Choices
Lies of P gives its weapon system a distinctive identity through weapon assembly. Many weapons can be separated into a blade and a handle, then recombined to create different combinations of damage properties, attack animations, and stat scaling. The blade influences the weapon's physical behavior and defensive characteristics, while the handle determines much of its moveset and attribute compatibility.
This system lets players experiment with heavy, balanced, or fast weapon configurations without being locked into a single fixed moveset. Weapon durability adds another layer of decision-making, especially during longer routes where maintenance and repair timing matter. Special attacks known as Fable Arts provide additional offensive options when their meters are charged.
P's mechanical arm is equally important. The Legion Arms provide different active abilities that can change how you approach specific enemies and encounters. They are not a replacement for the main weapon, but they give the combat system a useful tool-based dimension, particularly when a situation favors elemental damage, crowd control, or a ranged response.
Character development is organized through attributes, equipment, upgrades, and the P-Organ. Quartz unlocks passive improvements and new functionality through a branching progression structure. Ergo serves as the main resource for leveling and purchasing, while rare boss rewards can be used for unique equipment choices rather than being spent immediately.
A Dark Krat and a Story About Choice
Krat is a Belle Époque-inspired city shaped by its puppet industry, but the setting is presented through bloodshed, mechanical horror, and social collapse. Streets, workshops, hotels, theatres, and industrial districts are connected by a largely directed journey with optional side paths, hidden items, shortcuts, and character encounters.
The lying system is tied to P's developing humanity. At certain moments, you can tell the truth or lie, often while responding to an NPC in distress. These decisions affect conversations, quest outcomes, available rewards, and the route toward different endings. The game does not treat lying as a simple good-or-evil meter; it connects deception to P's identity and to the way he becomes more human.
Exploration also includes records, optional conversations, costumes, and recurring Hotel Krat activities. Players who examine side areas and return to NPCs at the right times will find more context than those who follow only the critical path. The story is therefore built around both boss progression and careful attention to the people living through Krat's collapse.
Base Game, Overture, and Current PC Content
The base game is a paid single-player campaign with its own story, regions, weapons, bosses, side quests, and multiple endings. Cosmetic items and music-related additions are separate from the core adventure. The main expansion, Overture, is not included automatically with the standard base game and must be purchased separately.
Overture acts as a prequel chapter set during Krat's final days before the central tragedy. It adds new locations, enemies, bosses, weapon combinations, Legion Arms, and story material connected to the city's history. Access requires progress into Chapter 9 of the base game and repair of the Hotel Stargazer, so it is designed for players who have already advanced deeply into the main campaign.
Post-launch updates also added useful options to the main game. Players can choose between three difficulty levels, change difficulty during play, and use colorblind settings. After completing the main story and reaching an ending, the Hotel Stargazer provides access to two boss-focused modes: Battle Memories for individual rematches and Death March for consecutive boss encounters with limited health and items.
Who Should Play Lies of P on PC?
Lies of P is a strong fit for players who want a focused, story-driven soulslike rather than a huge open-world RPG. Its directed structure makes progression easier to follow than in many genre alternatives, while its bosses, weapon assembly, Perfect Guard timing, and P-Organ upgrades create enough depth for repeated experimentation.
It is especially suited to players who enjoy learning enemy patterns, testing different weapon combinations, and exploring dark reinterpretations of familiar literature. Those who prefer relaxed action, cooperative progression, or extensive character appearance customization should know that Lies of P is strictly solo and does not provide a traditional multiplayer system.
For a different PC take on demanding action RPG combat, players who enjoy dark third-person soulslikes such as Wuchang: Fallen Feathers will recognize the emphasis on dodging, parrying, boss learning, and build improvement, although Lies of P is more linear and more tightly centered on weapon assembly.
PC Features and Input Support
The PC versions are available through Steam and the Epic Games Store for Windows. Steam lists full controller support, Steam Cloud, achievements, and Family Sharing. The official patch history also confirms separate keyboard and mouse settings, additional key customization, target-lock sensitivity controls, and optional camera rotation settings.
Players can use keyboard and mouse or a compatible gamepad, with controller support covering Xbox and PlayStation input families through the PC storefront ecosystem. The Windows version also includes AMD FSR 3.1 support and an option to continue game audio while the application is inactive. These are practical PC additions rather than separate gameplay modes.
The official support information lists 12 supported languages: English, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Portuguese, Polish, and Italian. English is the listed audio language on the Epic Games Store, while the other supported languages are provided through text and interface localization.
Similar Games and Buying Questions
Among comparable PC experiences, FromSoftware-style action RPGs such as Elden Ring Nightreign share the focus on demanding encounters, build decisions, and learning enemy behavior, but Nightreign is built around repeatable multiplayer expeditions while Lies of P is a linear solo campaign. The contrast matters if you are choosing between a self-contained narrative journey and a run-based group experience.
Lies of P also stands apart from many soulslikes through its fixed protagonist, weapon assembly, puppet setting, and truth-or-lie story decisions. It offers meaningful build variety without turning P into a fully customizable avatar, and its most distinctive progression choices come from equipment, Legion Arms, the P-Organ, and the way you handle NPC interactions.
Lies of P FAQ

Yes. The base game is still officially presented as Lies of P. Overture is the name of the separate prequel expansion, while the Epic Games Store also lists bundle-style editions that combine the base game and expansion.
Is Lies of P: Overture included with the base game?
No. The official expansion notes state that Overture must be purchased separately. It requires the base game and becomes accessible after reaching Chapter 9 and repairing the Hotel Stargazer.
Does Lies of P have multiplayer or co-op?
No. The official support page describes Lies of P as a single-player game with no multiplayer functions. Boss encounters, exploration, and story progression are designed for solo play.
Can you change the difficulty in Lies of P?
