Game Description
Get Even PC is a first-person psychological thriller from The Farm 51 and BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment. The current Steam listing still uses the original name, with no verified rebrand or replacement edition. It combines investigation, stealth, light shooting, environmental puzzles, and a fragmented memory story built around Cole Black, the Pandora headset, and a failed rescue involving a girl and a bomb.
This is not a conventional military FPS. The main appeal is piecing together a mystery while deciding how aggressively to move through unstable memories.
A first-person investigation inside fractured memories
Black wakes in an abandoned asylum with no clear memory of how he arrived there. An anonymous figure known as Red guides him through a treatment process using Pandora, a headset that lets him revisit and interact with reconstructed memories.
The asylum functions as a recurring anchor between missions. From there, Black enters photographs and memory spaces, searches environments for clues, and gradually connects personal history with a larger kidnapping and technology conspiracy.
The pace alternates between exploration, evidence collection, puzzle solving, stealth, and short combat encounters. That structure matters because the investigation is not a side activity; it is the way the narrative delivers context and reveals what Black may be hiding from himself.
The smartphone is your main investigative tool
Black carries a smartphone with several practical functions. Its scanner identifies important objects, while the thermal view helps locate heat signatures and the UV light reveals details that are not visible under normal conditions.
The phone also supports navigation and communication, making it a diegetic interface rather than a menu detached from the world. You use it to inspect documents, trace clues, find hidden routes, and understand how individual memories fit together.
Evidence can include notes, photographs, recordings, police material, and other objects connected to the case. Searching thoroughly rewards patient players, especially those who prefer reconstructing a mystery from environmental details instead of following only the main objective marker.
Players who enjoy first-person psychological horror built around exploration, puzzles, and damaged memories like In Sound Mind will find a similar emphasis on investigation, although Get Even gives its mystery a stronger stealth-shooter framework.
CornerGun changes how cover works
Get Even's most recognizable mechanical idea is the CornerGun. This weapon can pivot around a corner, allowing Black to aim through its attached camera while keeping most of his body behind cover.
The CornerGun is especially useful for stealth takedowns and careful positioning. It encourages you to study enemy patrols, use the edge of a wall, and create firing angles that would not be possible with a standard weapon.
It is not a replacement for every firearm. Black also uses conventional guns, and the shooting remains a supporting system rather than the entire game. Combat is generally more effective when treated as a controlled part of the investigation instead of a reason to rush through every memory.
The game also includes stealth kills and environmental anomalies that can alter parts of a memory. Scanning the right object may reveal a new route, remove an obstacle, or create a useful piece of cover, linking the smartphone directly to movement and survival.
Choices, evidence, and memory stability
Get Even presents moral decisions and situational choices that influence how the story develops and which ending you receive. The important decisions are tied to Black's behavior, his interpretation of events, and the conclusions he reaches about the people involved.
The game frequently frames violence as disruptive to a memory. Going in with weapons can be faster, but stealth and observation are often the safer approach when enemies are positioned close together or when the environment is unstable.
Evidence gathering supports the broader detective gameplay. You are not simply collecting optional items for a completion percentage; documents and recordings provide additional context about the characters, organizations, and experiments behind the central mystery.
There are two main difficulty settings, Gentle and Traumatizing. The choice affects how demanding combat and survival feel, but the core experience remains focused on story discovery, atmosphere, and investigation rather than score attacks or replayable competitive modes.
What is included on PC
The PC version is a single-player purchase on Steam. The current storefront page lists Steam Achievements, Steam Trading Cards, Steam Cloud, Family Sharing, and a required third-party EULA.
There is no verified co-op, split-screen, competitive multiplayer, or online campaign mode. Get Even is designed around one player's interpretation of Black's memories, so its progression is built as a linear narrative investigation with optional evidence and branching outcome details.
The game supports full controller support alongside keyboard and mouse play. Controller users should still expect the CornerGun, smartphone tools, and first-person aiming to be central to the experience rather than optional gimmicks.
Steam lists nine supported languages for the PC version: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish from Spain, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Japanese. English is the only language listed with full audio; the other supported languages provide interface and subtitle localization.
Who should play Get Even?
Get Even suits players who want a story-rich mystery with horror elements, investigation, and restrained gunplay. It is a good fit if you enjoy searching rooms for evidence, interpreting unreliable memories, and moving through tense spaces where atmosphere is as important as enemy encounters.
It is less suitable for players looking for a fast, weapon-heavy FPS with deep loadouts, constant firefights, or open-ended multiplayer. The shooting is deliberately secondary to the mystery, and the game regularly slows down to let you inspect an environment or follow a narrative lead.
The tone also shifts between psychological horror, crime investigation, stealth action, and surreal science fiction. That mixture is part of its identity, but players wanting a single consistent genre may find the transitions uneven.
Related PC experiences
For a more traditionally atmospheric haunted-house investigation, first-person psychological horror such as Layers of Fear is a useful comparison, though it places far less emphasis on firearms and tactical stealth.
Get Even is closer to a hybrid than a direct substitute. Its strongest overlap with other detective horror games comes from the combination of environmental clues, unreliable perception, and a protagonist trying to understand a past that has been deliberately obscured.
Get Even FAQ
Is Get Even still called Get Even on PC?
Yes. The current Steam listing continues to use GET EVEN. No verified storefront rebrand, definitive replacement edition, or renamed PC version was found during the current check.
Is Get Even multiplayer or co-op?
No. The PC release is a single-player experience. It does not provide online co-op, local co-op, split-screen, or a competitive multiplayer mode.
What kind of game is Get Even?
It is a first-person psychological thriller combining mystery, horror, stealth, light FPS combat, exploration, environmental puzzles, and narrative choices. The investigation and memory structure are more important than sustained shooting.
What is the CornerGun used for?
The CornerGun lets Black aim and fire around a corner using an attached camera while remaining behind cover. It is most useful for stealth, controlled headshots, and attacking enemies from unusual angles.
Does Get Even have multiple endings?
Yes. Choices made during the investigation and at key story moments can affect the outcome. The game also tracks how Black approaches certain situations, so a stealth-focused playthrough can produce different results from a more aggressive one.
Which languages are supported on PC?
Steam lists English, French, Italian, German, Spanish from Spain, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Japanese. English includes full voice audio, while the other languages are listed for interface and subtitles.
