The House of the Dead Remake

The House of the Dead: Remake is a refreshed version of the cult representative of the rail shooter genre created by SEGA. Two Polish teams are responsible for the remake: Forever Entertainment and MegaPixel Studio.

The plot

As a typical remake, the new version of The House of the Dead doesn't introduce major changes in the story of the original. We follow the fates of agents Thomas Rogan and G, who are sent to the laboratory of DBR corporation in order to explain the causes of mysterious disappearances of local residents. It quickly turns out that the research of Dr. Curien, who runs the facility, has resulted in a plague of horrors that Thomas and his partner never dreamed of even in their worst nightmares.

Mechanics

The House of the Dead: Remake also remains faithful to the original in terms of gameplay, being a classic example of a shooter on rails. The player has no direct control over the protagonist - he can only direct the viewfinder to shoot off the emerging zombies and other monsters created by Curien as quickly as possible. This not only avoids receiving damage, but also translates into a higher point score at the end of the stage.

Game Modes

Like most cel-shooters, The House of the Dead: Remake offers only one gameplay mode, but with the possibility to play it in co-op mode (or competition for points). The adventure with the title is additionally prolonged by the presence of several endings

Technical issues

Although the plot and gameplay have remained essentially unchanged, the Polish developers have modernized other production elements of The House of the Dead: Remake, with 3D graphics at the forefront. The developers have also adjusted the game's controls to modern standards.
