StarCraft Remastered

StarCraft: Remastered is a PC-released refreshed edition of the 1998 classic real-time strategy game. The production was developed by Blizzard Entertainment studio, the same team that produced the original.

Storyline

The action of the game takes place in the distant future, in a remote region of the Milky Way known as the Koprulu Sector. In this place, the Terran Empire, representing humanity, encounters alien races for the first time in the form of technologically advanced Protoss and animalistic Zerg. A great war breaks out between these factions, which will forever change the balance of power in the galaxy.

Mechanics

In creating StarCraft: Remastered, the authors decided not to change anything in the gameplay mechanics. So we get a traditional RTS, in which during the game we gather resources, construct bases, produce units, and finally lead them to attack the enemy's command center.

There are three playable factions to choose from, and each of them differs strongly from the others, manifesting unique advantages and disadvantages. The Protoss have the most advanced technology and psionic abilities, and even a single unit of theirs can do a lot. Their weaknesses, however, are the small size of their army and the high cost of training troops and land development. Their opposite is the Zerg race. It relies on hordes of weaker units, which are cheap and can be grown at an express pace. At the same time, however, they can only put up buildings on transformed terrain, which takes some time. Terrans, on the other hand, are very versatile, and extremely mobile thanks to the option of transporting buildings, but they are slow to conduct scientific research, and their structures are sizable, which makes it difficult to construct bases.

We can play with all of this in six campaigns (two for each faction) or in multiplayer mode that allows us to compete with other players.

Technical issues

Released on PC, StarCraft: Remastered significantly improves the audiovisual setting. The graphics are still two-dimensional, but all its elements have been refreshed and offer a higher level of detail than in the 1998 original. On top of that, there was support for high widescreen resolutions, up to 4K. In addition, campaigns have been enhanced with new illustrations to help tell the story. The sound design has also been improved, including character dialogues. Eight new language versions have also been added, including Polish.

Considerable changes have been made to the online and community options. The game received full support for such modern features as advanced matchmaking, saving game state in the cloud, easy access to fan-made maps, a replay system or quick change of keyboard settings.
