In Monster Hunter Stories 3 Twisted Reflection you take on the role of the heir of Azuria. You are also the leader of the Guardians and the only rider of a Rathalos. This sets you up for an epic journey in a fantasy setting.

Your task is to search for answers in the forbidden area past the northern Meridian. You have company in the form of Eleanor. She is the princess of Vermeil who offered herself as a hostage to try and calm things down.
Exploring and Interacting
You see the world from a third person perspective. As you move around you meet different people. You talk with them and take on quests they offer. These activities help advance the main plot.
Monsters are not just enemies here. You can tame many of them. Your successful tames turn into Monsties. These become valuable partners both in combat and for traveling across the map by riding them.
Combat System
The battles are turn based. This means you carefully choose actions each turn. You use your character's weapons and skills. At the same time you utilize the abilities of your Monsties. Their strengths play a big role in how fights turn out.
You get to improve your hero over time. The monsters you have also get stronger. You find and craft better equipment. This creates a sense of progression throughout your playtime, much like the expansive hunts in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Bonding With Your Monsties
One of the best parts is building your collection of Monsties. Each one offers different advantages. You decide which ones to use for specific situations. This adds strategy to both exploration and combat.
