Game Description
Punch Club on PC is a boxing management RPG from Lazy Bear Games and tinyBuild, built around training, resource planning, automated fights, and a branching mystery. The current Steam product is still listed as Punch Club; Punch Club 2: Fast Forward is a separate sequel rather than a renamed or replacement edition. This is not a conventional boxing game. You manage the fighter before each bout, then watch your preparation and tactical choices determine the result.
A boxing career managed one day at a time
Punch Club combines time management, life simulation, strategy, and boxing-themed RPG progression. The protagonist is pursuing the identity of his father’s killer while trying to climb the local fight rankings, but every day forces a practical decision about how to spend limited time and energy.
Training improves the three central attributes: Strength, Agility, and Stamina. Work provides money, sleep restores energy, food controls hunger, and social activities open story and relationship opportunities. These needs compete with one another, so the main challenge is not simply raising numbers. It is maintaining a routine that keeps the fighter healthy, solvent, rested, and ready for the next scheduled bout.
Training progress can also deteriorate between sessions, making inefficient routines costly. A strong plan usually focuses on one main attribute while supporting it with a secondary stat instead of trying to maximize everything at once. The resulting loop is deliberately repetitive: train, earn money, recover, pursue story objectives, prepare a fight, then adjust the schedule after seeing what worked.
Automated fights, deliberate preparation
The fights are hands-off combat encounters rather than real-time boxing matches. Before the round begins, you examine the opponent and choose a sequence of attacks, defensive actions, and modifiers from the abilities you have unlocked. During the bout, the game executes those choices automatically, turning preparation into the central tactical layer.
This structure makes attributes and abilities inseparable. Strength supports harder-hitting attacks, Agility influences accuracy and evasive options, and Stamina helps with endurance and recovery. Energy management matters as well: an impressive move is not useful if its cost leaves the fighter unable to continue.
Skill points earned through fights unlock an extensive set of combat abilities. The three major routes are Way of the Bear, Way of the Tiger, and Way of the Turtle, each encouraging a different approach to offense, evasion, defense, and endurance. The choice is not a cosmetic class selection. It determines which passive bonuses and combat tools become available as the fighter develops.
Story branches beyond the ring
Punch Club uses its boxing career as the framework for a wider branching story. The investigation into the father’s murder sends the protagonist through encounters involving work, friendships, romance, shady opportunities, and unusual characters. Progress is shaped by where you spend time and which opportunities you prioritize.
There is room to pursue a legitimate climb through the rankings, but the game also presents less respectable routes. That choice-driven structure gives repeat playthroughs a reason to experiment with different schedules, relationships, skill paths, and narrative decisions rather than simply repeating the same training plan.
The tone is lighter than the murder premise suggests. Pixel-art presentation, exaggerated characters, retro references, and absurd side situations keep the story from becoming a grim sports drama. Players who enjoy management games with eccentric writing may find the offbeat events as important as the combat system.
What the current PC package includes
The standard PC game is a paid single-player title. Steam currently lists one non-gameplay content item, the Punch Club OST and Artbook, while the Deluxe bundle packages the main game with those extras. There is no season-pass structure or large collection of separately sold gameplay packs presented on the current Steam page.
The major gameplay addition is The Dark Fist, a free expansion integrated into the main game. It adds a superhero-themed side story, roughly three hours of additional content according to the publisher announcement, a Hardcore mode in which opponents level alongside the player, cloud-save functionality, and other updates. Starting a new game is required to access its added storyline.
The content model is therefore straightforward: buy Punch Club, then play the expanded version without needing to purchase a separate gameplay expansion. The OST and artbook are optional extras rather than additional campaign systems.
PC features and practical fit
The Steam version is a Steam-launched PC game with Steam Cloud, Steam Achievements, Steam Trading Cards, captions, and Family Sharing listed as platform features. It is designed around a mouse-first interface, which suits its menus, scheduling screens, map navigation, and ability selection better than a traditional action-game control scheme.
Steam lists 13 interface and subtitle languages: English, German, Russian, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Polish, Turkish, Czech, and Korean. Full audio is not listed for these languages, so the localization is text-focused rather than dubbed.
Punch Club is single-player only. There is no listed co-op, split-screen, competitive multiplayer, or native online fight mode. The appeal is its personal management puzzle: build a fighter, test a plan, recover from mistakes, and replay with a different path.
The game is a good fit for PC players who enjoy stat optimization, routine planning, branching narrative choices, and combat systems where loadout decisions matter more than reflexes. It is a weaker match for anyone expecting direct punch-by-punch control, a traditional sports simulation, or a relaxed progression curve without stat maintenance.
Related management and strategy games
Players drawn to Punch Club’s resource juggling and unusual management premise may also appreciate darkly humorous life-management RPGs like Graveyard Keeper, where daily planning, work priorities, relationships, and long-term upgrades compete for attention.
For a more action-focused alternative with systemic choices, chaotic 2D strategy games such as Streets of Rogue offer flexible objectives and multiple ways to solve problems, although they emphasize direct movement and combat rather than automated boxing encounters.
Neither comparison reproduces Punch Club’s exact formula. Its distinctive niche comes from combining a fighter’s training schedule with a life-management economy and a preconfigured combat system that plays out after the important decisions have already been made.
