Halo Wars 2: Complete Edition

Halo Wars 2 is a continuation of the strategy game which was released in 2009 on Xbox 360. Responsible for the first part of the series was the now-defunct Ensemble Studios team, which previously became famous primarily for the Age of Empires series, although it also had Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds to its credit. The second was produced by two teams - 343 Industries (the developer who took on the development of the Halo brand after Bungie) and the Creative Assembly team, so the "fathers" of the Total War series. Halo Wars 2 on PC and XONE is a brand new chapter in the history of the universe, offering fast and exciting gameplay in which battles are fought on a grand scale.

Storyline

Halo Wars 2 is set in 2559, 28 years after the events of the first Halo game and shortly after those of Halo 5: Guardians. The crew of the warship Spirit of Fire is awoken from a cryogenic sleep, unaware of how the war with the Covenants turned out. After receiving an alert from the surface of Ark, the installation that produces the Halo rings, the soldiers are attacked by aliens known as the Banished, setting off a whole new adventure.

Mechanics

Halo Wars 2 on PC and XONE is an RTS, or classic real-time strategy. Gameplay is of course based on performing various tasks and is based, among others, on building a base which is used to train soldiers and produce units. Combat takes place on the principles known from the social game Paper, Stone, Scissors. Therefore, ground vehicles are effective against infantry, the latter copes well with aviation, which in turn is perfect for conducting clashes with ground machines.

One of the elements distinguishing this one from other strategies is the Blitz mode, which combines elements of a normal game of this type with a card game. During the game we do not manage resources, buildings and units, but instead we use cards (we gain them during the campaign and by completing daily challenges) symbolizing particular units or buildings.

Game modes

In Halo Wars 2 on PC and XONE, apart from the story campaign, there is also a multiplayer module. The developers have prepared several modes that allow for 3-on-3 combat. Among them we have the classic Deathmatch (everyone against everyone), Strongholds and Domination (forms of play focusing on controlling the designated targets) or Skirmish (fight against AI - alone or in co-op). Additionally in multiplayer we have new units with explosives and leaders who have special abilities.

Other

Halo Wars 2 belongs to Xbox Play Anywhere program. This means that by purchasing the digital version of the game for one hardware platform, you get the other one for free. Additionally, progress and achievements are common to both releases.
